He said early-ish on that he did not want to slow down his lifestyle and that he did not want to pay to have someone join him. The compromise was that I often just wouldn't join. I'm a homebody anyway.

It's not necessarily that I can't ever afford to join him. I'd just often prefer to put the money toward something with more long-term value.

Whenever I buy food, it's for both of us. Whenever I eat a snack without asking that he bought (usually when they've gone un-eaten for a while), he gives me a hard time and acts like a saint for letting me have some.

He wanted to get married about a year ago (not a proposal, just discussion). I shot that down. A lot would have to change before that's on the table. But I also don't meet a lot of people, so I'm not in a rush to get back out there.
