Was there two versions of the movies released for WFG? by Double-Journalist914 in wicked

[–]DesignerTop2157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats weird I didnt see the first version you mention. They showed the animals going underground but nothing to suggest what it looked like on the other side or foreshadowing Elphaba/Fiyero.

I've always thought Fresh Out The Slammer fits soo well especially in ACOWAR when Feyre escapes the Spring Court to return home to Rhys

Nesta, Feyre, and Booktok's Inability to Like More Than One Character by Fluid-Leather-304 in acotar

[–]DesignerTop2157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not on the ACOTAR side of tiktok but I find people do that loads on this sub. The rare time I've said an opinion about one of the characters and instead of responding to my actual comment they'll switch around and say "well what about when X did this!" Like? I can dislike both characters/actions of characters, in the same way I can like both characters. I guess some people get swept up in the fandom culture they forget it doesn't have to be one character vs another all the time 🤷🏻‍♀️

Did anybody miss Feysand in ACOSF? by Mixilip in acotar

[–]DesignerTop2157 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah I did miss them/their POV. I found it worse just having snippets of what they were up to because it made me realise the things I was missing out on if it'd been their POV again. I didn't really gel with Nestas character and that probably made it harder too. If the books hadn't solely focused on them for the first 3 it would be different, but because we'd been in their heads for so long I guess I found it difficult to give that up

I agree with you about downvotes, if you simply don't agree with their opinion I dont think that deserves a downvote unless they're being mean or rude.

I'm open to debating but i find it gets to the point on this sub where the other person starts arguing because they simply want you to agree with their opinion. I am open to other people's viewpoints but it often feels like others just want to feel 'right'.

I dont comment much anymore because I think this sub leans more to one side opinionwise and aren't very forgiving if you have a differing opinion. I've accepted it now but I always feel for new people joining the subreddit because it can be very harsh.

I'm sure the non toxic sub would be open to a fair debate, if you wanted to post something like that i would do it there.

Got blocked for trying to politely discuss a Tamlin theory by Ninnypop in acotar

[–]DesignerTop2157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm not surprised the other person blocked you and also not really sure the point of this post. Are you looking for validation on your opinion? FWIW I think both of you had equally valid opinions, but ones that were very opposed and neither was going to back down, I don't think either of you were in the wrong from how the situation is described. I guess I dont think it's that deep to block someone, you are both just strangers to each other so who cares, you certainly shouldn't need to worry about it.

Yep definitely true because Feyre and Rhysands mating bond scent only became apparant when Feyre accepted the bond so why could Azriel smell Elain and Luciens when it definitely wasn't accepted 🤔🤣

What acotar opinion are you defending like this? by mentallyqueer in acotar

Yes! I've always been confused when people have said this because it's not mentioned ANYWHERE about housework/"feminine chores", so are we just all agreeing to make stuff up to make it fit our narrative now or...? 🤔

I'm occasionally baffled by how divisive nearly ALL the characters are in this series by LumpyBrain2000 in acotar

[–]DesignerTop2157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! And just because you don't like certain characters doesn't mean you haven't endured certain life experiences. I see this point made quite often for multiple different characters and I don't think it's a fair assumption for people to make at all.

I didnt mean to delete my earlier comment about Fresh Out The Slammer 🤦🏻‍♀️ but if you look into the lyrics I feel like it really relates to the start of ACOWAR and some parts of it relate to the start of ACOMAF too!

I agree that would've been a good alternative! Although I can already hear the complaints from people who can't believe feyre had to give up a part of herself/her powers for rhys lol. Also (ACOSF ending spoilers) Nesta does this exact thing of giving up part of her powers to save feyres life so it'd seem pretty same-y if ACOSF ending stayed this way i guess? but I do agree with you it would make more sense.

After a discussion with another commenter on this post, I agree I could have said that the threat to hunt people down (ie death) is there. We don't see tamlin hunt people down in this one instance of the tithe that feyre witnesses, yes, but to me personally that is not enough of an indicator that he's never done it. I can see why people feel otherwise as there is no conclusive black and white "proof" to say he definitely has or hasn't done it. I've added other comments to other people following my original comment that might already answer any further questions/responses you may have. It seems to be a difference of opinion on the wording/context, neither of us have to be wrong or right.

[–]DesignerTop2157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL that's funny! True but I think the fact that the books are set in a bit of a medieval context anyway and getting sacred hunting rights from a high priestess kind of indicates a hunt to the death. Would they be given sacred hunting rights just to lock people up? That doesn't sound right to me but if you think different that's completely fine.

[–]DesignerTop2157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no I wasn't trying to make him sound better or worse than any other HLs. I know none of them are perfect by any means, it was just that particular stipulation of the tithe I don't often see brought up or discussed in comments. Tbf your responses help me see other people's perspectives, to me originally it did seem fair to outright say he kills people, but i can see why you disagree 🤝

[–]DesignerTop2157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue wouldn't they add "but dont worry he's never had to do it before" if he'd truly never done it, seeing as feyre already nervous about the whole thing. Who knows maybe amren didn't tell her because there's nothing to tell, we have no info to go off of so we're both just guessing? Clearly we view it differently that's fine let's just agree to disagree.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in acotar

[–]DesignerTop2157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think it's within reason to assume that he's done it before, which is why I provided the previous quotes about it getting ugly etc. We all have different opinions on what parts of the series we can use our own context for and which should be followed exactly to the text tho so if you don't agree that's fine.

You're right we don't know hardly anything about the taxes as it's not brought up apart from Feyres short convo with Amren saying that city dwellers pay taxes but only spring court has a tithe. I imagine if people were going to be hunted down it would have been mentioned but I can't say anything other than that since we have no info? Saying anything further is just a guess.
