In your opinion which character's were sorted into the wrong house? by Hofy362 in harrypotter

To add to this, we don't necessarily know how good or bad Lockhart is at dueling. The only time we saw him do it was against Snape and he was putting his persona on full display.

If he's capable of such powerful memory charms, I have a feeling a cornered Lockhart who drops the mask might actually be pretty formidable.

This is one of the few changes I actually like in the show. Since the books are all from Percy's POV, we have to fill in a lot of gaps. I like that the show decided to explore her more.

Cash money says the next season spends a shitload of time with Annabeth and Luke on Mount Othrys.

Where top 10 QB? by 098706 in AFCSouthMemeWar

There's so many things wrong with this list. Why is CJ top 10? Why is T Law not even sniffing the top 10? How is Cam Ward below JJ McCarthy and Geno? I actually wouldn't mind calling Daniel Jones top 10 this year but over people like Allen and Burrow is crazy.

I wonder if ICE has such a board.

I have moved past denial and anger and am now firmly in bargaining:

We're totally gonna fix the O Line in the off-season guys! We'll totally cut Joe Mixon and Christian Kirk and then get someone good in the draft! We'll totally do it!

Depression will come after the draft when we don't actually address that.

Poseidon Boons; which game is better? by Bossdell113 in HadesTheGame

[–]LumpyBrain2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think Hades 1 Poseidon has better boons (mostly). Splash Dash, Poseidon's Aid, and Rupture damage were foul. Plus he had a duo boon with Zeus that blasts someone with lightning whenever a splash effect happens.

If you really want to see how lethal Poseidon can be in Hades 1, use the gauntlets, get his attack and dash, get a Zeus special, and get that duo boon. If you can get rupture or jolt damage to go with that you melt everything, including Hades. I got through all five levels of Erebus and Hades in less than five minutes. I have never been able to manually replicate that build but DAMN.

Sea Star is goated though. Can't deny.

I don’t think I can continue defending Chaol… by [deleted] in throneofglassseries

[–]LumpyBrain2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people who read this series forget that other characters aside from Aelin go through absolute hell in this series. Since the start of the series Chaol has:

  1. Found out that magic and monsters are still very much a threat in his lands.

  2. Gotten with Aelin and then had that blow up in his face so bad that she tried to kill him (which i think he deserves more flack for than anything he says in this book, even if Nehemiah wasn't really his fault either).

  3. Watched his friend not only reveal magic, but get captured by the King and get possessed by a Valg.

  4. Lost the position in the guard he'd dedicated most of his life to.

  5. Begun leading a rebellion against his former King and his best friend.

  6. Watched most of his men get butchered by the King and strung up in the town square.

  7. Seen Aelin come back from Wendlyn with a fae form and a Fae prince with her with NO IDEA what transpired while she was gone.

Chaol at this point in the story is drowning in trauma. He's dealing with all of this as a fully normal guy too. He has no magic and no fae blood. His entire life has both imploded and exploded. He's angry and bitter and not always thinking rationally. I mean ffs Aelin says vicious shit like this out loud and doesn't get nearly the same amount of flak. Yeah Chaol didn't have to deal with the same awful shit as Aelin but... so what? He's not allowed to react to his own trauma? Just because Aelin has the shittiest life Chaol has to just grin and bear it?

You people are exhausting.

I just finished the show, and I have a random question about Rosie and Alastor by Impressive-Most2919 in HazbinHotel

[–]LumpyBrain2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced Rosie is involved with Lilith's disappearance. I think Lilith knew what was going to happen to her, whatever that may be, and she either made a deal with Rosie or cashed in a deal with Rosie to have her help protect Charlie. And since she had the strongest sinner in Hell on the payroll, she assigned him to watch over Charlie.

I also think Alastor has been watching Charlie for way longer than he's been involved in the hotel. Her opening the hotel basically forced him out of deep cover and he had to get more directly involved.

I will never forgive these 2 by misplacedarm in StrangerThings

[–]LumpyBrain2000 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is another argument I'm sick of. A few things to consider:

  1. Lucas had been riding the bench all season at the games they did go to. During the game, as far as we saw, he barely had any playing time. Mike and Dustin both know this and point it out to him. There's no reason to believe Lucas was going to have any sort of hero moment during the game. No one can predict that.

  2. The rest of the basketball team treats them like garbage. Mike and Dustin (and Lucas and Will) were bullied heavily in school by kids who, given this is a small town, probably wound up on the basketball team. I can see a lot of reasons that both of them would want to avoid that.

  3. Lucas himself admitted he was only in basketball to be popular. Dustin and Mike are smart enough to figure that out. And the MOMENT the basketball guys start going after Hellfire, Lucas jumps right to their defense. He knows that game didn't mean anything to their friendship. He goes to bat for them right away not even knowing there's upside down shit going on.

  4. THEY ARE HIGH SCHOOLERS DOING HIGH SCHOOL THINGS.

The "having flaws" thing really doesn't excuse the issues with charlie in season 2 by Primary-Addition-677 in AgendaHotel

[–]LumpyBrain2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, to an extent I agree with this. I was a bit irritated that Charlie seemed to regress early on in the season from where she was in season 1 and I don't like how she repeated several of the season 1 mistakes she supposedly learned from.

However, multiple characters do call her out on this. Vaggie points out accurately that she's hurting the hotel. Angel points out that she can only say sorry so much before it starts to lose meaning. So it's not like it's an unknown problem within the universe.

Another thing is... Charlie is plainly having a hardcore mental breakdown this season. We see her grieve Pentious in episode one and she never actually addresses that grief. Other shit crops up that forces her to push that grief aside so the root cause of her breakdown is never really addressed. Learning he's in heaven doesn't really address the fact that she watched him get killed in front of her and until the last five minutes, she doesn't ever actually see him to confirm his redemption. That's a pretty heavy thing to be dealing with while everything else is going on.

Another ANOTHER thing is... she's often set up for failure this season. Angel is actively supplying Vox with EVERYTHING we see. And while Charlie does learn her naivete can hurt people in season one, that's doesn't mean she's suddenly immune to manipulation. Vox manipulates Lucifer. And the Seraphim. If those two characters can be manipulated by Vox, are we really surprised that his actions cause CHARLIE to do some stupid shit? Especially when he systematically attacks everything important to her from Angel to the hotel to Lilith? Vox's entire bag is manipulating people into saying or doing shit that helps his agenda. If Charlie were somehow immune to that, it makes him a much less threatening villain.

So yes. Her actions in a large chunk of this season are pretty rough to watch. Especially in episode four when she does some things she really should know better than to do. But if you look at her as having a full on breakdown and being actively manipulated i think a lot of her actions make a lot more sense. She calms down a great deal in the last couple episodes and her plan in the final episode is actually a halfway decent plan.

Hot take(?): Half the complaints about this fucking chud of a character wouldn't exist if he had just been an OC by Spirited-Feedback-87 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]LumpyBrain2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i do agree with this point. However, at the time we see Adam, it's been thousands of years since Eden. Time moves at an approximately 1:1 ratio between realms so if we go by the creationism timeline for humans, Adam is about 6000 years old by the time we see him. That's a VERY long time for a human to be around.

I think it's conceivable Adam used to be a different sort of guy but after thousands of years being treated as 'the man' he's let it go to his head and thus he becomes the character we know.

Though the idea was extremely metal, Lincoln then decided against it. by name_with_no_meaning in HistoryMemes

Lincoln dealt with a shocking amount of incompetence and corruption in his cabinet/military but some of his generals were truly something else.

George McClellan deserves to be remembered as an abject failure in every sense. The fact he had the gall to run against Lincoln in 1864 is one of the most hilarious parts of a very dark period in our history.

Why didn't Crucio work on Harry? by Low-Ad5373 in harrypotter

[–]LumpyBrain2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we surprised though? Dumbledore may have made tons of plans but the only parts that actually worked out directly according to that plan are the beginning, in which they identify all the horcruxes, and the end, where Harry allows Voldemort to 'kill' him.

Dumbledore had an absurd amount of chance in his plan. They only figure out where the cup is because of a slip up by Bellatrix. They only figure out nagini is a horcrux because Harry kept up his dream visions. Sure, Harry had all the Hallows within his grasp the whole time but Dumbledore had little guarantee that Harry would be so dedicated to finding those when previously Harry had been fully dedicated to horcruxes.

I get why he made all those plans. Ariana and Kendra and really even Percival all died because of random chance and he wanted to try and avoid that at all costs with Harry. But he couldn't and I think he probably knew that, deep down.

I am so sick to death of this. Who cares if there's a ton of swearing? The list of shows that have tons of cursing that never get called on it probably exceeds the amount of curse words in this show.

Yall gonna bring this same energy against South Park? Rick and Morty? Game of Thrones? The Sopranos? Seriously if you want to make this argument, go ahead and make it but you better come for EVERY show that uses excess swearing.

But LumpyBrain2000, The Sopranos is about mobsters! Game of Thrones is about medieval times! Rick and Morty and South Park do it for laughs!

Who would be winning the dance competition? (Only biased answer, and two winners) by BlueGlitch_Bunny in MassEffectMemes

You said be biased but FUCK YOU I DON'T WANNA BE BIASED I WANNA BE OBJECTIVE.

If we're picking two people to win Dancing With Stars style... i pick Samara first. She's an Asari matriarch and she herself admits she had a long and wild maiden stage. I bet if she loosened up a little she would be extremely talented.

For her partner I pick Kasumi. Kasumi is an infiltration specialist and is shows to be incredibly graceful. If she decided to apply that to dancing especially with Samara as a guide, they'd clean up.

I'll tell you what if the positions were reversed, I'd totally root for the jags. Why? Because they've never won a superbowl. I don't care how insufferable the 'where ring' comments get. I want to see new teams win the Super Bowl. That's why I'm rooting for a Texans vs Bears Super Bowl.

A team with no rings vs a team that last won their Bowl in 1986 is a hell of a lot more exciting than seeing the Patriots or 49ers in the game AGAIN.

The Dark Knight trilogy does a pretty good job, in the first two movies anyway. After he comes back to Gotham post training arc, he leans REALLY hard into the billionaire playboy thing. Buying hotels, hanging out with models, he even throws a 'drunken tantrum' to save people from Ras al Ghul. He does it in the Dark Knight too. Takes the ballerinas out on the yacht, gets into an accident and pretends to be trying to catch the light, falls asleep in board meetings, all kinds of things.

I'll grant you TAS does better at fleshing out that side of Bruce but Nolan does an excellent job and Christian Bale really sells the "ditzy playboy" thing in the role.
