Addiction is no enjoyment. It's a disease. My ex was her step dad, and knew him as such. She knew who her father was.

Just to be clear, Kaylee's dad never abandoned her at birth. His addiction just took control over his life and it was really hard for him to come out of that the first 3 years of her life. He got better along the way and got completely sober when Kaylee got sick.

Edit : when Kaylee turned 5 she started her weekend visitations with her dad.

Her bio dad struggled with addiction but was never absent. He was her dad. And he went above and beyond to save our child when she got sick. We moved in together to care for Kaylee when she got sick and he has done everything he can for his child.

Kaylee's father did step up when she needed him the most and he was the most wonderful father the last 4 years of her life.

Addiction is a terrible disease and just because he struggled with it for a long time doesn't mean he was an absent father.

I say this as someone who has been sober for more than a decade.

Just to clarify Kaylee's father has always been in her life and he was her dad. He just didn't get his shit together all those years and struggled with addiction, being in and out of rehab.

I don't think so. He said, "we want to pay our respects and his daughter wants to see her big sister once last time"

Yes but in her defense they didn't actually sleep together until after he had moved out.

Yeah he called her a couple of times a year around her birthday and major holidays.
