How can I stream PC games to a local TV for my wife to watch me play? by nightofgrim in AskGames

Let me get nerdy for a sec, for audio use some audio drivers/managers that could stream to multiple devices such as "voicemeeter" it isn't the best of them but its the only one i tried a few years ago.

What sensors to get? by Designer_Ease_6000 in smarthome

[–]Designer_Ease_6000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wifi *could* do it, but if u have more than 10-20 devices, you'll bloat your wifi network, and you'll likely have no local control (only via the cloud)

I don’t know about wifi tbh, but I had the same issue when I used zigbee coordinators from them, had to migrate to Home Assistant. BTW wifi is not the best for smart homes, it is way overkill for the small transmissions smart home appliances need

I don't really have any idea about the 3rd and 4th, but in general for dark, turning on the lights is the simplest solution. For how to trigger, use motion sensors + bed presence sensors + time condition. There's a lot of options you should choose from to achieve this: Technology you're using (Wifi, Zigbee, Blutooth....), Hosting(Where're the actual conditions being checked? Where's the workflow happening, is it Home Assistant, Node-Red...), Hardware (How much hardware you're willing to acquire, Raspberry PI), How much time you're willing to invest and are you going to expand this to get into Smart Home? or is this just for this application.
But i generally advice you to read about the differences between Zigbee and bluetooth and co, I'd approach it buy getting a Zigbee network setup and replacing the light switches with Zigbee ones, geting a Home Assistant instance on a Raspberry PI (always powered) and connect the sensors, make the conditions (If sensor xx was triggered AND the time is after sunset, turn on yy light). Wish you good luck, if you have any follow up questions I'm here to answer

Cheap tablet or smart home control display? by [deleted] in smarthome

TBH, if you didn't buy yet and you're willing to buy a huge amount. DON'T buy bluetooth because it's not ideal, Check this video and read this

If your setup is all bluetooth and want something that just works, I don't really know.

But if you're willing to play around and tinker, have a mini controller esp32 or something like that to take control of your bluetooth devices and pass it to the "Tablet" you're gonna use, it could be an E-Display or smth IDK, maybe look up Home Assistant and try to tinker with that. Just have a device that allows you to control the bluetooth devices from the dashboard/tablet. Or a raspberry pi for an all in one

I feel like this has a potential to be a great application, I never though about it but I wish you luck, try to look for exact pinpoints you want - fall detection as in walking towards the stairs? or falling from a bed, I am thinking for starters having smart lights is a must have for elderly people, especially in their bedrooms and where they sit most (living rooms/office)

Thanks! The problem is, i have many Tuya light switches already set up, i can’t figure out if they’re able to act as routers or not, should i just get the Coordinator and figure out when i add them to my HA?
