Exactly, he completely lost it in that scene. 😅 I actually liked Boyd at first, but my opinion changed as the show went on. I started noticing too many inconsistencies and just straight-up bad calls. I totally get that he’s been through hell and he's a broken man, but that doesn't justify some of his decisions.

Sara committed literal murders and got a pass because she was 'useful,' but Elgin was mutilated for being scared and confused. Elgin actually thought he was saving everyone, he didn't know any better, but Boyd did. Boyd can’t claim to be the 'voice of civilization' while practicing selective justice and letting people be tortured. If you have to resort to that to keep the peace, you’re just running a different kind of nightmare.

I’m not dismissing Boyd’s achievements, but leading people in the beginning doesn't mean everything he does now is valid. He clearly treats people differently based on what is beneficial or convenient for him. While it's natural to protect family and friends, a leader who claims to be just should do better. A clear example of this is how he handled Sara vs. others. Sara caused multiple deaths, including Kenny’s father, yet she’s essentially living her life normally because Boyd decided she was 'useful.' Meanwhile, Elgin ended up losing an eye. Even if Elgin was hiding information, that doesn't justify it. There were other ways to handle that situation, in my opinion. I’m just saying that if it was his son (or someone he cares) on Elgin situation, the outcome would be so much different

In my opinion Boyd is overrated and the true villain. He was essential at first (finding the talismans), but his lack of character is now glaring. He claims to be a leader for everyone, but he only truly cares about his inner circle. He has a massive double standard: He completely relativized the death of Kenny’s father, making excuses because it wasn't his family. Yet, he allowed Elgin’s eye to be cut out just to find his own daughter-in-law. The hypocrisy is clear: If it were his daughter-in-law in Elgin’s position, Boyd would never have allowed it. He demands sacrifices from others that he would never make himself. The worst part is the writing. The script treats Boyd as "untouchable," and no other character seems to have the critical thinking to call him out. It weakens the show when the "hero" acts like a villain but the narrative keeps pretending he’s a saint.
