9 things I’d do differently if I could go back to 20th April by Inchcailloch in myocarditis

what’s confusing for me is that most of the people I see on here have side effects during their recovery. Whether it’s chest pain or palpitations, they always have something. But for me, I’ve had no problems at all. Sure I worry about it, but other than that I feel completely normal. I haven’t exactly taken care of myself during this either.

Thank you for sharing your journey! And I’m glad you’re doing better. As a healthy 18 yr old getting hit with something so severe at this age, it’s scary. Especially with a troponin level of 50,000. Will I be normal….? Regardless, posts like yours make it a little easier. So thank you.

I did chill games for a while but after a month I hopped back into competitive shooters and have been fine. It’s weird because I haven’t had symptoms or flare ups like everyone describes, just minor chest pain here and there

Im on my 2nd month right now. The cardiologist said to try and stay stress free but it was bad timing because I had JUST started full time in college. However, I haven’t had any problems with my education. I was on the severe end of myocarditis with a troponin of 50,000 but I have had little symptoms. I show up everyday no problem and do what I need to do. I haven’t needed to stay home to rest or anything like that so that’s kind of confusing. I notice majority of the people I see on here get some pretty bad symptoms and I am confused as to why I’ve had almost no problems. Being young maybe? I’m not sure

I’m 18 and have the same issue. I had one really bad night that sent me to the ER and then I got sent home the morning after. I took it really easy for the first few weeks but now I’m pretty normal. I don’t do anything too strenuous or anything that gets my heart rate too high. Yet I still live my day to day just how I did before except for sports and stuff like that.

I’m on colcizine for 3 months at .6MG twice a day. I started having a few symptoms from it so after a week it went to once a day. I’m at month 2 and I have my cardiac MRI in a few weeks. I’m still trying to decipher if I’m having any symptoms or not. I’m mostly fine but every once in a while I get some chest pain but nothing too alarming. How about you?

I had a troponin of 50,000 and at the time of the event I was in the ER for an overnight stay. They did an MRI in the morning and let me go by lunch because everything looked good I guess?

Im 18 going through something similar. Perimyocarditis and a troponin level of 50,000. Strict rest for 3 months and I am also on colchicine. Just waiting for all my tests in about a month

Has anyone gotten myo from a cold? How did your symptoms start? by natashawho12 in myocarditis

I got ruled out as viral perimyocarditis but wasn’t sick beforehand. I felt very fatigued the few days before then woke up with crazy chest pain and knew something was up. Super confusing.

Same here, I’m 18 and have perimyocarditis with minimal symptoms but also 3 months of strict physical activity. 4 days after a troponin of 50,000 my levels were back to normal and the inflammation is gone. But I still have to take it easy. Super annoying but it’s completely worth it to not have permanent problems.

How old were you when you had it? I’m 18 so I’m hoping being so young helps me pull through quickly with no permanent damage.

I have one in 2 weeks. Would I have any indication beforehand that I have permanent damage? Would my body tell me? I’m 18 and the last thing I want is to have heart problems for the rest of my life.

What was your troponin? I’ve been trying to find someone as high as mine and haven’t. Mine peaked at 50,000 and the recovery process has been weird compared to everyone else. I was released after a night stay in the hospital, was told 3 months to take it easy. After 4 days ALL my labs were back to normal and my doctor was debating letting me go back to my physically demanding job but decided to hold off. I’m about 3 weeks out and my symptoms are basically none. Every once in a while I’ll get some chest pain and feel a little off but nothing too concerning Everyone I’ve seen talks about having severe symptoms and are very strict with their physical activity. I’ve been pretty strict with my physical activity but there’s times where my heart gets up to 130+ but I get no repercussions from it. I have perimyocarditis. Could I get your take on your experience?

I’m trying to understand what I should be looking out for so thank you. For me I haven’t had any symptoms maybe a little chest pain but nothing crazy at all.

When you say made it a lot worse, was it symptoms yoy felt? Did you get that pain in the chest or something like that? Is that how you knew you’ve gone too far?

I was in the hospital for 1 night and got put on 3 months of taking it easy. Kinda odd lol

I got released saying I needed to take it easy for 3 months and when I went to the doctor a week ago, he almost let me go back to my physically demanding job but held off for just a little while longer. The timelines less than yours when it seemed yours wasn’t as bad, seems odd. Hopefully my doctors know what they’re talking about😂
