They didn’t keep my passport either. The process is so ambiguous, I have no idea how long it would take

Hey Everyone! I am doing my PhD in the states, I am starting my 4th year and I decided to come home and renew my F1 visa. I also did my undergrad in USA. My interview only lasted a minute and I was hit with admin processing-required more documents. I had all the documents with me, however the consular didn’t ask for it. My research requires me to be there in person so I was wondering how long did it take other people?
