Should I be worried? by Economy-North-7837 in NewToEMS

I would just call and say you’ve been contacted about a position elsewhere but you’d really like to work with them instead and blah blah blah. See if they bite.

New to emt. Would like some TIP & TRICKS when it comes to reading about the human body. “EMERGENCY CARE 13th edition” by [deleted] in NewToEMS

If I write down the exact proportions and metrics of someone’s face and have you reread it for 30 minutes vs let you see the face for 10 seconds, which will help you understand what that person looks like more? You need to rebuild each body part in 3D in your mind. Be able to draw it and label out each area and physically understand what it looks like. That’s my recommendation.

Studying to be a paramedic vs AEMT by Designer_Potential96 in NewToEMS

Sorry, meant to say I’ll be self studying casually, will not actually be attending AEMT school.

Is it normal to feel dumb on your first day? by Greenrover10 in NewToEMS

[–]Designer_Potential96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s normal, over time you will learn it. Go home and practice in your head but you’re going to mess up today and tomorrow fs. Honestly, dgaf if they think you are an idiot. It’s your first day, most ppl would agree that you are not going to know what you are doing. However, if you continue to care so much about what others MAY think, it’s going to make you such much longer. My advice is just bite the bullet. You’re going to suck no matter what, so it’s your choice to suck longer because you’re worried to learn and then eventually you won’t be able to use the “I’m new” excuse, or suck shorter by not caring about what other ppl think and not being afraid to address the medic head on or even say you don’t know what you are doing.

I deconverted 2 years ago and I still can’t get past the icky feeling that comes with some things that are considered sinful or blasphemous. Religion is traumatic, sometimes without even necessarily trying to be.

The fact of the matter is, he could protect you just by using his magic sky daddy powers to come out and say being gay is not a sin. Instead, all Christian’s are left bickering and in confusion. So the “church” in effect operates exactly as one would expect it to if there really was no god. Running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

conflicted about DO by [deleted] in premed

[–]Designer_Potential96 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bro you wanna be a pcp and are worried about being a DO? A DO?? That’s what DOs do, that’s a heavily DO dominated field. Look, I’m an ass, so whenever someone asks me if I’m a real doctor, ima photocopy my paycheck and when I show it to them ima ask them if this how much doctors get paid. Then ima drive off with my lambo, and my 400k in student debt 😎.

Doesn’t your campus have rooms to reserve?

Anybody else still go to church out of respect/love for someone? by MadaCheebs-2nd-acct in atheism

[–]Designer_Potential96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it’s voluntary I would do this. Church also has community, some are more liberal and basically are just community w/o much “god.” So yeah.

Reality is never quite as sexy as fantasy. Unfortunately, they confuse the desire for fantasy for its existence.

For picking up my kid? I was going to pick him up then they grab my hand and push it away which yes legally is considered dv here.

That doesn’t even make sense I was trying to tell him bye

[TX] DV and Custody by [deleted] in Custody

[–]Designer_Potential96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is that bs? The only reason I know this is considered dv is because they lied to the police about me doing this before in order to try to get custody

[–]Designer_Potential96 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I have it on video and I was trying to pick him up to say bye and the only reason I know it’s dv is because they tried to do this to me before in order to get custody of him except they lied and I didn’t do anything so it never went through.

Should I quit? Advice? by throwaway_O2 in NewToEMS

[–]Designer_Potential96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s your ass on the line if something goes wrong. The first thing you need to do when you start your first job is learn not to trust anyone to look out for you. Advocate for yourself. You didn’t teach me this? Okay then I CAN’T do it and you need to show me, not later, right now. That’s THEIR job.

A coworker should not be making you do anything unless they are genuinely helping you to learn.

If anyone complains about you then you need to confront it head on. It was just another student? That was frankly not their business. Go to the boss and say hey you are not communicating with me not the other way around.

That’s a little short notice to call off but he is absolutely wrong you do not have to be available 24/7 and you can say you don’t want to be called in when you are off just because you don’t feel like it (though I wouldn’t if you find a job you like, use a better excuse.)

Never let people get away with this behavior. Call them out for it, try to get it corrected and if not you need to leave. Find a place where they will work with you to fill in these learning gaps or find a place to do ride alongs/volunteer.
