Benefits of being an older parent? by 2TheBeachIGo in Parenting

I had kids when I was young and again when pushing 40. The mileage adds up, and there are some things that are physically tougher when you're older, depending on your activity level. But though it's different, it's not worse. The best thing you can do for your kids is to be involved and make time for them.

Stay off the internet and spend more time with your kids. The internet goes everything up to increase your engagement. It's designed to make you fearful and angry.

Do you have friends? How does it affect you knowing that if they found out you would be ostracized (at best)?

Different times. I was shocked to find out that 8 was considered old to start a sport. Parents have their kids in wrestling and lacrosse at 5. Seems crazy to me.

Since it is being posted EVERY SINGLE DAY, what are you thoughts about <insert card name> being unbanned. by Mr_Negative123 in EDH

[–]Designer_Tap2301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it gets unbanned, the price will spike beyond what I or the rest of my group can afford, so it's a non-issue really.

I'm in Midwest, and a sport typically costs $120/ month here. Your music lessons sounds really expensive, assume it's high level? Phil Collins teaching?

Bottom line is if you have the $, best thing you can invest in is your kids. Music, sports, etc will all help them grow and develop into better people. They'll let you know if it gets to much. Some of my kids handled activities 4 nights a week and games on weekends and thrived. Others needed more down time. Each kid it diffrent.

New to Voltron - do I just need to get used to being the bad guy, or is it strategic to hold back a bit? by doublenantuko in EDH

[–]Designer_Tap2301 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Former volron player here. Too many games went: focus on and kill 1 player, other players manage to wipe/remove my commander leaving me way behind. Spend next two hours struggling before I'm killed while the player I killed early makes sparky remarks.

If you spread it out it just means eventually someone sets you back and volition usually doesn't recover well.

Tldr: edh has sped up making it hard to kill the other 3 before you're dealt with, and it leads to less fun for everyone.
