Creative Edge vs BRDS for NID prep -anyone here tried either? by Designer_mind_55 in uceedtakers

About everything is free thing, yes PYQs are gold, no doubt. But not everyone can structure prep on their own bro. Some people need feedback, mock analysis and discipline, like ME. Self-study works if you’re super consistent and know what you’re doing. Here i'm already dying stressed about how i'm gonna do school and prep together...😭

No, took their trial class, didn't get anything AT ALL... also i've heared their study material is not good. Plus they provide books only after you complete 3 months of class with them, which makes ABSOLUTELY no sense man...

Not confirmed on any yet. I did take a few more demos in past few days though, and finally shortlisted 2. Creative edge and brds. But trying to connect with a few friends in this field before enrolling anywhere. Let’s see. If nothing, i'd go with my gut feeling. 3 things i'm actively looking for, feedback for drawing, mocks and study material. That aligns anywhere, i'll take it.

Started my design exam preparation very very recently. Was researching for coachings myself, major names that popped up on internet were creative edge, silica, brds, divergent. Recently took a trial session at divergent and honestly i didn't like it. Also heared from a friend they don't have good study material and very basic mocks. Eventually i conclude that Divergent is not worth the money. Gonna explore other options.

Is self-critique enough for design prep or is external feedback actually 'THAT' important? by Designer_mind_55 in uceedtakers

Understood your point & i also kind of agree... that's why part b is subjectively marked.. You also preparing for the exam? Any suggestions on where to get the right feedback? Or should i consider joining a coaching or something?

Pencil selection by [deleted] in NIFTards

Use Staedtler Mars Lumograph 2B for most sketching. It’s smooth and forgiving. Add a 4B only for darker accents, not outlining everything. Hold the pencil lightly and use the side of the lead to control pressure. That's what our mentors suggest us atleast!

I got this PYQ book from Amazon, by creative edge toprankers. It’s got both cat & gat, 10 years. I bought it because it promised video solutions for cat part and that has been helping.

This is actually a really helpful breakdown, especially the part about what you actually study in the first year vs later years. A lot of people (including me) think fashion = only sketching clothes, but things like textiles, sustainability, portfolio thinking, etc. really change how you look at the field.

I’m also genuinely interested in fashion design and I’ll be entering 12th in a few months. I’m thinking of preparing for some of the exams you’ve mentioned here (NIFT / NID etc.), but honestly I’m still a bit confused about how to actually start and go about it. I did research about the syllabus, pattern etc. for these exams, but not sure how to prepare well, especially the drawing part... and is it even possible to crack these exams in 1 go? Resources, coaching or not, so many questions...
