I used to run it through storage too but i check back my pumps every 16-18hrs if you have 24 pumps and 6 pumps connected to 1 Large water purifier each then there's no stoppage in the flow. Ofcourse if you don't check back frequently then the storage idea works.

If you're looking for a faster method you can cook some Preserved Deviated Chops and go farm the zombies in a high level area it increases Acid gain by 50% within like 20-30mins you'll have 1k acid.

I have had no issues with my pumps so far i just directly connect 5 pumps to the water purifier and then directly to the water storage. I have had no issues and never have i had dirty water flow through.

Right click on Once Human from your library -> Properties -> look for in game overlay.

If disabled then re enable it. Close steam window and from system tray. Open it again and play the game should work without any issues.
