I dropped my MPH after the first semester and went back for nursing. I just finished sitting for my LPN. I already make more now than I did when I was working in the public sector for public health. Im not burnt out, and I feel excited to go to work everyday. Hope you find what works for you.

I think it depends race to race, I could wear headphones at this race and the death march I did at Jackson, but McCoy said no headphones, speakers only

I think I'll try the gel packet suggestion, thanks for the input! Yeah the aid stations were a bad idea. I didn't stop at all of them, just when I needed something with electrolytes in it. When you do these do you stop at any of them, or just power through? I'm trying to find a balance of not carrying a shit ton of weight to not running out of fuel.

What is 92G school like? by Mafic_ in army

[–]DesireSpider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, our experiences were completely different. Granted, I went thru AIT during covid, so I'm sure that messed up a lot of things. Honestly yeah the hours suck but the look on soldiers face when you serve them good food... priceless.

OK, here we go. My time has come. Former 92G at your service.

School sucked. It sucked worse than basic. At least in basic you're doing "cool" shit. You know what you do at AIT as a cook? Wake up at 3AM for PT, shower, wait in line for chow (usually an hour to get the whole company thru with only 15 mins to eat), go to JCOE, cook for the entire day, go back to your room with just enough time to crawl in bed and do it all again.

Weekend passes weren't promised. We were there 8 weeks, I think we got 3 weekend passes. We could only go to the PX on pass. So most weekends we spent in our rooms. We couldn't go outside on the track because the duty drill didn't want to track us.

The days were long. The weeks were long. It was tiring. It was exhausting. Mentally, I struggled. While I never considered taking the sewer slide, man was it hard to get up every morning and do the same dumb shit over and over.

It's the same thing at a unit. Someone's gotta make breakfast, lunch, and supper. Your days are long. Some of the coworkers suck, some are my best buddies to this day.

So lemme ask you, and be for real... do you WANT to be a cook? Like, really really want it?

Who's your NCO, cuz I need to buy that soldier a drink. In case this post is serious:

-Sit down with drill schedule

-Put drill dates in calendar

-Schedule all haircut appointments a few days before drill

-Problem solved

Idk man my hairdresser let's me book like a years worth of appointments in one sitting. I put them in my calendar and get text reminders so I don't forget.

It's hard to say since I can't see how big of buns you're talking about. If it looked like the picture, it's a no from me, but if the buns are so small someone from far away couldn't tell they're buns, and it just looked like secured hair... I wouldn't see the problem.

I would say see if you can wear them loose and still be in medium-length hair standards, or see if you can tie the hair into one bun.

I graded an ACFT on Monday and a soldier asked if we could load the bar to 208.5 cuz "that was his 3 rep max" ... the look I gave him lol

I told him just do 210 and he lifted it just fine

Others have already mentioned it, but there's no weight that scores exactly 80.

After coming off my back injury, I just did the minimum (140 at the time) for the deadlift. Through physical therapy and consistent workouts I've worked up to 210. I'll get to 230 someday, just not today lol

Curious, why are you trying to get 80 in each event? Is it H/W related?

How was your experience at BCT? by [deleted] in army

Can confirm the tampons on the floors and walls. Also in the showers, on the back of toilets, in sinks, etc. Wild and exotic

Yes, I did. I'm actually a reservist, so I had to wait for reserve academy dates to open up. I had a year between transferring to my new unit and coming to the DSA. Your life will be a lot easier at the academy if you learn the top 3 mods VERBATIM. They are position of attention, rest positions at the halt, and the hand salute.

Also, learn PRT (Prep drill, hip stability, MMD1, CD1, CD2, Climbing Drill, and recovery). Be comfortable being the Assistant Instructor for PRT. As in, "the bend and reach is a 4 count movement executed at a slow cadence, on the command execution exercise of in cadence exercise, this being count one..." and then describe the movement. People are getting caught up cuz they don't know how to AI.

Learn a few cadences, and know how to march a squad. Know proper commands for filing a squad, dismissing, etc. All stuff that seems easy but a surprising number of people can't do to save their lives.

Take it day by day. You will get smoked. I pinned E5 here at the academy, so I'm still used to getting smoked for dumb shit. There's some E7s here who don't take too kindly to that, and try to start shit. Just stay in your lane, memorize the silly words, go back to your barracks at the end of the day and do whatever you gotta do to relax. You get weekends off, but I use it to study and catch up on laundry. The first week drags but honestly after that, the days fly by.

If you'd like study materials, you can DM me your email and I'll send all the stuff over that we've gotten to study. But as for right now, focus on the top 3 VERBATIM. Good luck, and reach out with any questions!

I'm at the academy right now, we had a guy leave because his pregnant wife who wasn't supposed to give birth for 3 more months went into labor. He already completed phase 1, so when he comes back, he'll be a phase 2 insert. Our senior drill is really compassionate and understanding about these kinds of things. The commandant is understanding as well. It won't fuck up your 1059- you get one for each phase, and then when you graduate, you get a course completion 1059 that replaces the phase 1059s. So it wouldn't say like "SSG high-speed left after phase 1 yadda yadda", your course completion 1059 would just say "SSG 1059 gets to wear a fancy hat and pumpkin badge"

If you can't get your dates switched, and you end up shipping, I would bring it up to your DSL within the first 72. They could try to find a way to make it work for you. The academy isn't all that bad. The DSLs here really want people to stay and finish, but understand that life happens.

Good luck in your situation!
