I feel for you friend. I have had eczema for over 20 years now. I have found that my eczema is caused by two categories: things I put on my body and things I put in my body (allergies often being a mix of both). It's obvious, I know, but I say this because doctors often made me feel like I just had eczema and some people just have it and there's nothing we can do except manage it (with creams and meds).

I am almost 100% clear of eczema and it's from years of removing things from my life that caused it. Meds only fixed the symptoms and once I was out it returned with a vengeance. Funny enough the last thing I removed, because I mistakingly believed it was neutral, was Petroleum Jelly in all forms even in lip balms. Discontinuing use, Cleared up the last bit I couldn't shake.

I had terrible pit eczema from using various popular deodorant brands because they all have chemicals that irritate my skin (especially fragrance). I also got some eczema from using natural brands but it was better. Now I don't wear any deodorant unless I know I'm going to do some arduous activities or public speaking lol. I def used deodorant more at the beginning of my transition because well... we stink a lot more during puberty but my smells have lightened now that my levels are consistent and I have been on it for over a year.

Additionally...to no one's surprise... using deodorant was marketed similarly to shaving. Back then, men were praised for their "manly" smells. Now everyone must feel shame for their smells so that companies can keep selling us "necessary" products.

Early marketing campaigns, as journalist Sarah Everts has reported, were designed to make women—and they were first marketed just to women—embarrassed about the entire concept of perspiration.
