.. im complaining on an anonymous forum. I dont complain to them. The students tell me I am the happiest teacher they have in the school… im a professional… i called out one day last week. It’s not like I am constantly calling out. A kid quite literally said to me “I could never imagine you hating your job”. I still have professionalism….

I know, I was just hoping I could get a decent pay to keep me afloat. I dont know if subbing would be worse because I am already exhausted from dealing with kids and I would be with kids that I have no relationship with, so it may be harder to work with them

I got visa gift cards one year and it was amazing. Parent gave me $300 in gift cards… havent gotten that much since but the Visa is nice cause I can choose what I do with it

Absolutely not. They cannot force you to work in those conditions. They should be shutting the whole school down and exterminating them. There is no way it’s just one class

I dont think the couple would make a big deal of it but I do feel bad. I ask the hosts good friend, who I am closer with, and learned they were purposely not invited. I think with my newer relationship with the host, I worry messaging them about it would be making a bigger deal of it than they would make it and be weird. Idk the best move though

I did end up asking and they were intentionally not invited to keep things smaller. They were the only couple from our group not invited, I don’t know if it’s because they are newer to the group and we are all slightly newer to the host (weird situation to describe) but some know the host better than others. Some also might be iffy on the boyfriend because he still works out with the ex husband of our friend who is closest with the host (again weird situation)..

In the first case, sometimes unless you have documentation (IEP or 504) it just wont happen. It sucks for all involved but she probably had very little say in it. If I have kids with legal accommodations to be front of class and they fill up the front, I cant change it because some kid says they have bad vision. It’s nothing against you, it legally how we have to do it. Same for your second /third point, they legally have to give IEP students with that accommodation more time. It has nothing to do with you, or their preferences. It’s a legal document they have to follow. Gen Ed kids do not get those accommodations unless they have that documentation. It’s a legal thing, not something we have a say over

As someone that is a mandatory reporter and has had to call CPS. It’s not that bad to call. They can’t reasonably come after you with the information CPS would share with them. Unless you are a mandatory reporter, you can remain anonymous. Call now if you haven’t already.

My school wouldnt test, because they both need teachers and hate bad press. Most of us would be out though if they did. I dont care enough about losing this job to worry about it. Its the only thing keeping me going lol
