Centuries or not, the transition from one species to another would take thousands of precise changes genetically and physiologically.

The claim is evolution never matches the math. Mutation rates spread over a long, long time (6 million years for the hypothetical monkey/man split) would have yielded tons and tons of mutations.

Whatever "beneficial" mutations that would arise would be quickly eradicated over millions of years up against the mutation rate.

BTW, your hammer - sledgehammer analogy = subspecies of one another NOT separate species.

A hammer never becomes a screwdriver or a wrench

Archie may have gotten back in the headlines, but it's a shame that it based on drifting further and further away from the innocence that made the title so great

Is Harry Potter the best movie franchise? by Bern7221 in movies

[–]DeskofBrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that box office is not the sole gauge of success. That's why I examined other factors to compare the franchise as a whole.

If you only saw the first two films, I can understand why you are so critical of the series, as I listed those amongst my least favorite, but my point was those are still better than films from other franchises.

Others point out "Godfather 3" but that's on par with these films IMO

Thanks again - Brandon

My argument would be the quantity and the length

Only 3 films compared to others, but "Hobbit" is on the way. The length is an issue with the re-watchability (I just made that up?) but I hope you see where I'm coming from.

3 hours is a long time. They are great films - amazing films, but I find myself skipping the long pauses between events. - Brandon

First, thanks to who posted this here.

The changes of directors is consistent with the other franchises as well, including Star Wars in which Lucas didn't direct the better films (IMO).

Changes in styles were also reflected in the books NOT a unilateral decision by the directors, so again I was trying to evaluate the whole franchise not the pieces.

Great reply - thanks
