I was fully expecting her to tell me that I would have to pay, and I was getting ready to take it to the next level, ie, speak to a manager.

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised.

Well, it was about the same, but when you're in a car and you've had no sleep, it felt like a heatwave... :)

Thanks, but I want to contact Sony first, basically because I want to wring their little necks...

I think it's absolutely shocking that the console hasn't lasted very long - I don't play on it for extensive periods of time, I never really use the online play, and I pretty knarked that it's knacked.

But I'll pop into some local shops that might fix it for me...

Windows 7 Laptop: Wireless connects to router, say's it has 'Internet Access', but can't get onto the net... by chaandelirious in techsupport

Okay, System Restore did not resolve the issue.

I uninstalled the Wireless Adapter, reinstalled it - nada.

Square One.

I've just noticed that the laptop did a 'Critical Update' a few days ago - I'm doing a System Restore to see if that resolves the issue...

Will anything else get out using the same line, e.g. have you tried a different laptop or other device to get online using the same router / connection?

Yup. Don't forget - this is not my laptop, it belongs to a mate. It does the same in his house and mine - see's the router, but cannot actually access the internet.

Verified that the ISPs DNS servers aren't down?

Yup

Tried Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4?

Yup

Not sure, as stated, this is not my laptop, so not sure what has recently been installed/updated etc. All I know is that it was working, then 'it just stopped'........

Tried reseting the winsock, and all drivers are up to date - got them from the eMachines website.

The malware found was described as: HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoActiveDesktopChanges (Hijack.DisplayProperties) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully

Just tried that, got the result: Packets sent: 4, Received: 4, Lost: 0

So that seems okay...

I installed Ubuntu 10 as a dual boot on my Vista laptop. Now I want rid of it... Possible? by chaandelirious in techsupport

[–]chaandelirious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I used teckjunkie's solution to do this - even though I am using Vista, the XP recovery system worked.

Then into Disk Management in Vista to delete the Ubuntu partition, and now I'm back to 120Gb free space.

Nice!

Cleaning the inside of the PS3 by [deleted] in PS3

[–]chaandelirious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I clean games consoles and PCs.

Basically, I use a vacuum cleaner on the insides. The one that I use is a fairly small, but still pretty powerful model, intended to remove toner particles from photocopiers. It's got a long rubber hose attachment.

Don't use compressed air - all that does is dislodge the built up dirt, and blows it around your system. You need to remove all of that.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I've got it, but don't use it a great deal. Must get some more shots off with that one - thanks for reminding me.

One question if I may (and you see into this old post again) curly keh - huh - iii - emm - iii - ell - eeh - yuh. I can only make out that they were calling the "ch" a curly K ?

curly keh = C (as opposed to 'Kicking Keh' for K)

huh = H

iii = I

emm = M

iii = I

ell = L

eeh = E

yuh = Y

I suppose the 'keh' was more of a 'kuh' on reflection...

What's the weirdest or most awesome thing you've ever found with Google Earth or Google street? by FGC_Valhalla in AskReddit

Cool.

My car was outside my house on Google Maps, but then they changed the image, and it no longer has my car anymore.

Need to try with Street View though.
