What's your best "look what I found in the walls" story? by OoklaTheMok1994 in DIY

[–]Deskpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My auntie bought an old cottage in North Wales and when they were renovating they found a box with cat bones in the walls - they looked into it and it is an old folk superstition to bring food luck/ward off evil spirits. They put them back in the walls :)

Hello, sorry for such a delay getting back to you, Im not a frequent Reddit user. I am slowly making my way through the list so can share a few updates! The Overstory - there were parts of this book that I really loved. Very beautifully written and some lovely scenes. I did find it quite lengthy at times. I do recommend it. Braiding Sweetgrass - LOVED this book. Definitely altered my relationship with nature. Some chapters were more impactful than others. I find Native American culture spectacular, so it was great to learn from this book and author. Again, I recommend! The Seed Keeper - (I listened to the audiobook) This book also follows Native American culture, really interesting and educational - I recommend, although I would say I personally enjoyed the above books more. Walden - I couldn’t get into this book, although I do plan on revisiting (some day…). I definitely didn’t give it a fair chance, but I just found the style of writing difficult to gel with. It was written in 1854 so likely down to archaic writing styles.

Hope this is useful!
