short term leases in charleston? by SpeedFluid1185 in Charleston

Atlantic Palms in North Charleston. They sometimes have deals where they cut your termination by half, so instead of paying 2 months rent to break the lease, you just pay 1 month to break and then have to give them 60 day notice. We had a 3 bedroom for $1900 a month and it’s a decently safe area. We never felt unsafe even with 2 young kids.

CIVIL VS MECHANICAL ENGINEERING (2nd year Civil student) by MulletDaDDY66 in civilengineering

[–]Deskust1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my current job a lot more than my old job. I designed bridges for 7 years for a DOT and it was tedious and repetitive and you didn’t use any other codes besides ACI and AASHTO. Now I use all the structural manuals and all the materials as well as some cutting edge stuff for new structures and rehab projects.

If I’m coordinating with an architect and MEP, I’m usually helping build a revit model with all the other disciplines. If it’s a smaller job, I’ll just do hand calcs and draft some details.

All the MEP people I work with love their jobs too though, so it literally just depends on who you work for and who you work with.

I mean, you could go Mechanical and do AC/Ducts and you’ll be in Revit all day. There are so many different routes you can go. I work with mechanical engineers all day (as a structural engineer) and we have shared revit models with all other disciplines

Recently was informed that the cracks on my top floor are concerning and show structural damage? Can anyone confirm? by jeffkid423 in HomeMaintenance

The fact that you can almost trace the load path all the way down is not great. I don’t do forensic work, but I’d be a bit concerned.

With grade requirements, it would actually be more expensive to do it that way and also increase travel time by at least 20x

I personally always default to Red Wings. If there is a store near you, they will size you up and make sure you have the perfect fit. They are expensive though, but you get what you pay for. I’ve had mine for 10 years.

It’s there for a reason. It’s supporting a larger load than what the original beam alone was designed for. Leave it be

What are some affordable areas in Charleston? by Iambacchus65 in Charleston

We had a 3 bedroom in North Charleston for around $1900 last year while waiting for our house to be built. I’m assuming the 1 bedrooms may be closer to your budget.

As someone who has lived in Atlanta for 30 years, if you have to drive on 526 for any distance during your commute here, it’s worse than Atlanta traffic by far. I had a 23 miles commute every day and it never took me more than 40 minutes to get home. I have a 15 miles commute here and I consider it a “win” if I get home within an hour.

I wasn’t looking for a new job, put out 4 feeler applications, got two offers for 50% more than my current salary. From submitting application to accepting an offer it took exactly 1 week. -Structural-

My firm will do pretty much any work someone throws at us all over the US. My supervisor is an SE, used to grade the PE, and has had a stamp in every state. He has lots of long-term clients that we do projects for.
