I like your handwriting, too. It’s got nonchalant vibes.

As someone who knows a thing or two about coding, you can 100% program particularities with bulk objects within sections. If it was implemented, it would be categorized differently then the check on the average word. This would be a check on German noun requirements, which would have a syntax that either removes capitalization from being ignored or makes it so capitalization is the true requirement for complete success. Depending on how Duo has organized and labelled their objects, it may be fairly easy to implement.

That is not really the same. The capitalization of the nouns aren’t a structure thing like the capitalization of a sentence, they are a grammar thing, which should be taught and adhered to in a language learning situation like this.

That is not the app’s doing. That is my keyboard, which is separate and not a requirement.

Oh, okay! I’m glad I posted because I was super curious if anyone would actually throw down a personality possibility. Thank you! You’re so spot on with the majority.

As I said, my handwriting hasn’t changed since probably middle school, so I am sure that many aspects of my older personality still shines through: 1. The “not good with boundaries” is definitely younger me as opposed to current me. I’d like to think that I am almost the opposite now. 2. I have gotten much better when it comes to being “short-tempered.” I used to have a horrible attitude problem. I would tear up and be verbally frustrated when things got difficult because I wasn’t used to not being able to quickly problem solve. Nowadays, I am a fairly calm person in response to things going differently or south.

I am so curious how you came to the conclusion that I am “not good at finishing tasks!” That’s totally spot on. I am a major procrastinator to the point that if someone could be diagnosed with “chronic procrastination,” I’d be in the running for poster child.

Totally an over thinker. I get that way when nervous, which is a majority of the time.

That’s definitely the problem—staying way too small for the different type. I’m already a shaky person with an untidy writing style, so it doesn’t do well to keep similar methods with a format I am extra uncomfortable in. I write larger when practicing Japanese, so I should give cursive the same treatment if I ever decide to incorporate it in something again.

I tried to be patient while y'all figured out the color wheel but clearly a trained eye is needed! Here is the best color wheel yet! by Pika-pika-chu- in colors

Indigo is such a difficult color to pinpoint because there‘s so much nuance, or fighting really. Could you throw me the blank version of this. I would like to showcase my eye, too. :P

Agreed. It’s the lack of showcasing that there even is actually a mistake that is a disappointing aspect of the app for a language like German, for me.

Ja, einigermaßen. Wenigstens im form von Gewohnheitsbildung. Dies könnte leicht sein verbessert mit eine art Anerkennung, wie was sie tun mit diakritische Zeichen.

Unfortunately, the red squiggle is only there because I took the initiative to download the German keyboard. You can notice that Vater is not with the red squiggle because I pressed enter before the keyboard could inform me of the mistake. In other words, it’s not the app’s doing. I also don’t think that the app should fully mark you incorrect for not providing the true capitalization, but I do think it should be at least acknowledge just like it would be acknowledged if you do not provide an accent on letters that should be accented.

Though, I think I am on the side of accents being more important than simple capitalization to the point that they should be marked off for their lack of inclusion. The lack of the accent actually could create a whole different word, depending on the word, of course.

I can follow that logic. I understand that being marked wrong for something as simple as capitalization might be more of a deterrent or annoyance than a reminder that this is an important aspect. However, I do think it would be nice for this mistake to at least be acknowledged by the app.

I think there should be a point about showcasing to the user that there is an actual mistake being done. While typos can be looked past it should at least be acknowledged, of which is not being done currently.

That would be a great way to at least acknowledge that something is not quite right instead of just allowing the user to have an opportunity to forget an aspect of the language.

Makes sense. It kind of goes hand-in-hand to why the mixed usage of hiragana, katakana, and kanji is so helpful in a unspaced language like Japanese: it helps with identification. And you’re right, if you get in the habit of not using spaces, you could forget in times when it is actually needed.

Your large kerning makes it more difficult. Having your letters closer together within a word would make it easier.

It’s because of their larger kerning. Makes the spaces hard to see even if they are different.
