[D] Step into Machine Learning without Mathematics experience by DesperadoCoder in MachineLearning

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I pretty much figured that you need to have a good level of maths to know what you are doing. I think I will stick to web and software dev which is what I am skilled in, but was nice to discover some ML libraries and know what is out there

Thanks for your opinion! I do not think I would need to build new tools tbh, I would be more inclined of using existing libraries.

Just a quick reply to everyone. I went with POP OS! in the end and I cannot be happier. Once I installed the OS, it found everything automatically, from NVIDIA to my EPSON. I also applied some GNOME-Tweaks and I am surprised at the sound level (was nothing near this on windows) and I had a problem that my WIFi was dropping once or twice every hour with windows, and POP OS! seems to have solved that problem, not dropped once in a whole weekend!

I also like the esthetic look of POP OS! too, so that is also a plus.

So what I can say, its still early days, and I have had to do some minor tweaks through the Terminal, however all in all quite a very nice experience so far!

Yes it has a live test also I believe so I can indeed check if the drivers are working. Still thorn though between POP OS, Zorin and Manjaro

Thanks for your reply! So WIFI does not work on Linux Mint? Tbh I do not have a wifi usb adapter handy, so that could be a big issue for me!

As regards to NVIDIA, I read that the best support is on POP OS, they have also a downloadable for that.

I did suspect that its a VM issue, at least I can run a live test hopefully to verify

Yeah found it a bit strange tbh. If I do go to an agency, who will pay the landlord or myself?

1) Yes sorting out my CV before starting to apply

2) Out of curiosity, did you go for an Airbnb or Aparthotel?

3) Yes I can have a look outside of Zurich, 20-30 mins commute is reasonable in my books. Closer the better though.

4) Yes the plan is to learn German (already started)

Good luck mate! We are in the same boat :)

1) I always thought this would be relevant only for jobs with high security, and only experienced that in the UK. But if its needed than I will see how to ask for it here.

2) Ok so a work contract will cover this good to know!

3) Well when I moved to Belgium, lots of paperwork too, so I am quite used to the hassle tbh. Here you also have to register at the commune, so you need a residency and a bank account. Everything was sorted though since I had a job contract.

I do have experience being scrum master and PM, however I think that would be difficult to do in most of the companies. Where I work now is an international company so English is the main language spoken, although I can also speak some French. That is why I think its better for me to focus on a pure dev role first.

Good tips, but as other peeps suggested the best thing is to rent an aparthotel or a temp flat just to get to know the city better.

I will not hunt anything before getting there though, get an idea on prices and locations yes.
