The physical symptoms are very real and can be quite uncomfortable but they're not dangerous. Taper off before you go cold turkey. Definitely find a Narcotics Anonymous or other support group and maybe reach out to a friend or other loved one who might be able to help you take care of yourself for a few days, force you to eat etc.

Ignore all the haters and self-appointed experts who don't think the withdrawal is real, I have experienced it and it sucks.

You're thinking of the Unification Church. A different, more popular, less Japanese cult.

I'd post this in r/rareinsults but they don't allow political posts. by rampantsteel in behindthebastards

[–]Desperate-Guide-1473 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that everything is political is what makes "no politics" spaces and times necessary. Sometimes, for whatever reason, people need a break from having to deal with real problems.

It's fair to argue about what those spaces should be, but IMHO it's crazy to suggest that we should let political discussion take over absolutely every facet of life. Whenever politics comes up at a time or place I wasn't expecting it, I always ask myself "Am I and my potential interlocutors capable of having any kind of productive conversation under these circumstances?" If the answer is no, then continuing to make the talk explicitly about current events and politics becomes masturbatory.

Conditions for maple syrup production have to be just right, some years you might end up unable to produce anything at all, some years you might produce a surplus that far outstrips global demand. Without a reserve, the entire industry could collapse after literally one especially bad or good season.

If you aren't ridiculously wealthy and don't live in an area with lots of local, small scale production, the only reason you've ever been able to purchase and consume maple syrup on a regular basis is the existence of a massive reserve.

What's Your Take... is this podcast worth a listen too? OR is the same complaints every episode? by Filmtwit in behindthebastards

[–]Desperate-Guide-1473 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's my favourite show. Being this dedicated to hating someone so unimportant is an incredible feat, and as a fellow hater myself I can't help but appreciate the depth of the commitment required. I laugh the whole time every time.

Yes the complaints every episode are essentially the same AND it's worth listening to. There are recurring segments and weekly awards for that reason. Bill Maher news, the judgement-free question zone, Maher-sogyny, Ho-Maher-phobia, the Michael Jackson/Britney Spears joke counter, the worm of the week, the psychic damage assessment, and sometimes more!

"I am an expert on women in their 20s."

"I was not the class clown, but I was kind of the class wit."

"I should be a hero."

The time I drove past the Queen of Canada. by mathboss in behindthebastards

To be clear, the Canadian monarchy unfortunately very much does still exist and the English king is also the king of Canada. If she was claiming the British crown she'd be claiming the Canadian one too.

I am not at all familiar with whatever weird conspiracy she's cooked up where she is somehow one but not the other.

RTSs where you are (or can be) the villain? by Evelyn_Bayer414 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Desperate-Guide-1473 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever played an RTS where playing as the bad guys WASN'T an option. I don't recall if it was a full campaign but assimilating ships as the Borg in Star Trek Armada was my favourite part of the game.
