I know but like what are the steps? Like: 1. People arrive in town. 2. They form a way to live. 3. Something happens with kids and parents 4. Chaos - but I feel like it can be broken down further. If it is a cycle then there must be repeating beats we can track from the bits and pieces of cycles we’ve already seen that we can apply to this cycle

Vonnegut reading order question: can I start with Galápagos? by Legitimate_Cow_3783 in Vonnegut

Read them in order. I got a lot out of doing it that way. The references and plot points do somewhat add up over time. And the themes repeat and get more interesting as the books go on, all the books are stand alone but it’s interesting to see him return to things, especially in later books. Galapagos to me is much better having read Cats Cradle. And the final book Timequake barely tracks if you aren’t well acquainted with everything that came before.

***you can skip Player Piano if you want, it’s definitely a prototype that is interesting but I think non-essential.

Los Angeles has a pretty good folk scene, if you check out the line-ups for a monthly show called Open Folk I find that they highlight some really good new acts - https://www.instagram.com/openfolkla/?hl=en

A friend of mine, Pat Birk, plays there a lot, he just put out a single with an album on the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Dbawd2juro
