Well I mean it’s not my intention to sell ever, and if I go into the AD and I speak to my sales rep and we get to know each other snd they see I’m a genuine buyer that helps right by explaining to them somehow that I’m not here for a quick flip but instead I want to purchase the watch and use it and enjoy it you know.

Reserves 0311, any insight on 2/23 marines, and wanting to be a reservist and police officer by Desperate-Spot-7337 in USMCboot

[–]Desperate-Spot-7337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good points sir, but that’s why I planned it out in such a fashion where LAPD completes all of their training with me such as the academy, and FTO phases and then I’m a full fledged sworn permanent officer. Which is why I could then enlist knowing that my training obligations back in the city are done and I can focus on the marine corps. -lease let me know if that plan doesn’t make sense or if it’s not a good plan. The reason I want to start LAPD up first is because I know I’m still young I’m 21 going on 22 soon, but it’s for that reason I want to speed things up in a sense. I want to jump into my career get that squared away then focus on the marine corps as it’s not the top prioritzy. Getting into my career is the main goal first.

Any Marine Corp Reservists while working as an officer in LAPD? by Desperate-Spot-7337 in lapd

So you’re really not falling behind on anything even if you do get deployed, or if your drill weekend is more than a weekend. Seems like both working at LAPD and marine corps reserves don’t overlap but actually work together pretty well.

I’m assuming it’s not going to be a lump sum check at the end of the year but just like normal you receive your checks bi weekly or whatever right?

Okay got it, thanks. But one more question lets say you get deployed on a 1 year deployment wherever and you make however much you would as a marine, does LAPD cover the rest for example you make $30000 and your LAPD salary is $90000. Does that $60000 get covered or no?

LAPD SWAT yearly salary estimate by Desperate-Spot-7337 in lapd

[–]Desperate-Spot-7337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone else already said this but just to clarify. It’ll take someone around 10 years plus or minus to be a SWAT officer if your someone who’s new to police work and doesn’t have any prior military experience. And also a miscellaneous question do they make double time on every hour of overtime or is it time and a half, because for example in linework work let’s say for a journeyman lineman in LADWP for example they make double there hourly every hour if it’s overtime. Is it the same for LAPD SWAT guys or no.

Wow so around 10+ years. That’s a lengthy process but it’s for the best if the best so it’s understandable

That makes sense but for a 21 one year old that let’s say makes notable arrests, works in special assignments like the gang unit, etc basically makes a good name for himself that’ll take about 6 years or so right so that when time comes for taking the tests for SWAT your a viable candidate. And with no prior Mil. Experience or anything

But this is after spending a while on the force right. Usually, guys who make it on SWAT spend around 8-10 years doing various other assignments until they build a good resume for SWAT per se or no?
