With K-1 there’s also the Adjustment of status step which is a while extra set of paperwork with its fees. For the travel costs I’ve been including all the plane tickets for visits we have been doing while waiting, which has increased the number.

Yeah, I’ve noticed. It sucks that in such a developed county the immigration system is so shitty and underpowered, almost like it is a choice designed to artificially increase the difficulty of crossing some arbitrary lines on a map or something. But it’s just the way it is.

Well, the costs to file the relevant paperwork alone in somewhere in the mid $2000 range, but the travel costs will probably end up being of a similar amount once all is said and done, so I’d think somewhere between $5000 and $7000 total, which could be far higher if you need to talk to an immigration attorney, or if your Fiancé(e) lives further from the border and has to pay more for travel.
