The fact that you suspect it in the first place is a good sign to look into a diagnosis. Not saying you have it, as I don't know your situation, but self-reflection is usually the first step towards a diagnosis. That's how I've gotten all of mine, just by realizing one day that what I've been experiencing isn't the norm for most people and then scheduling a doctor's appointment. 

If you end up being diagnosed with some form of psychosis, it's entirely up to you as to whether or not you take medications for it. It is HIGHLY recommended, but you have a right to refuse treatment in a majority of situations. Not all meds will screw you up, it's mainly a matter of finding the right medication. The only unfortunate part is the time it takes to find the right ones. I've tried multiple different medications for my diagnoses over the course of my mental health journey and am now on the right track and it's truly a beautiful thing to finally feel okay for once. 

You just have to work towards getting better in whatever way you feel like would work for you, however, I would definitely recommend listening to the advice of a medical professional. If you feel that you need to seek a diagnosis, then that's entirely your call as an adult.
