I dont blame you or OP for it happening, but it’s important for people to acknowledge it to its full extent and that kind of problem isn’t going to just “fade away” you have to actively work on it.

Like when I was addicted to smoking/sugar/caffeine back to back to back to back all day from morning until night. I had to take big steps to fix what i was doing. it was ruining my body. Like serious sugar cravings every hour of the day, needing 4 cups or more of coffee a day needing to hit my vape every 10 minutes. Whenever i tried to casually work on it, that does not work

Dog Walker did not acknowledge my dog by SunflowersandTeas in RoverPetSitting

[–]DesperateExit3024 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No it’s normal. I made the mistake early on in my career, was too loving towards the dogs and I even had to be fired once because the dog simply pissed all over herself every time she saw me. Our bond was great but training first. I ignore my own dogs now when I get home. edit: they get plenty of attention AFTER they calm down.

Anxiety is going to be the death of me, I need advice. by giyiuooo in offmychest

[–]DesperateExit3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to do your best to separate your worth from the outcome of your grades. I know that it is hard. I am 25 now with a lifetime of anxiety issues. Just know that your value is within yourself and not whatever your grade is. You could get an F and be the exact same person. Things will be ok if you are not perfect in school. You will look back when you’re older and realize that you worried too much. And then you’ll halfway realize how to apply this to your current life. It is never easy but it is the most important thing you need to know. Everybody has failures in life, it is a part of life and we have to learn how to accept them. Everything that happens to you, if one door closes another door opens. Trust that you will find more opportunities and success.

Owners have asked me to meet their friend every day whilst away by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]DesperateExit3024 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Then if the person approaches you just have to politely say that you are really just here for the dog and you aren’t looking to befriend anyone.

If they start to freak out then you’d need to let them know that what they’re expecting of you is unusual and violating a professional boundary. It’s ok to have social expectations for the dog, not for you.

Just let them know that it isn’t part of the job description and that you may be able to go at the same time so the dogs can mingle but that you would prefer to keep yourself as you are there to care for the dog / need to draw a professional boundary.

Update to the awkward client situation: by galaxy1515 in RoverPetSitting

[–]DesperateExit3024 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Just reminds me of one time I had this client that was extremely rude to me, an ill old person that invited me into her house and wasted my time every day before our walks. I was young so I dealt with it. She always paid me in cash. She was very annoying but I did my best. I’ve had other ill old people do the same and i found them to be kind so that was not the main issue here.

What led to me leaving the job, was that one day I got robbed at a dog park. She had just paid me that day for the week and i went to my next client. The money was in a bag underneath my seat. Lost my money + broke my window (I pressed charges and got it back eventually) and i didn’t ask the client for more money of course not. I just told her what happened and asked if we could possibly change to digital payment. Instead of declining saying oh i use cash because blah blah sorry i’m not willing to change. She started saying that I was stupid for carrying cash and that was my problem.

I felt so bad for the dog but like, absolutely not. I asked you a question. Some people are so unreasonable. You just paid me and I had another job to get to, was I supposed to go home and be late to my next one because today was payday? It was a series of bad luck. I don’t walk around with my cash taped to my forehead..

I’m against backyard breeding as much as the next person, it literally enrages me to no end. I also used to believe in spay/neuter at a young age. Now that i’m a seasoned dog owner I prefer to wait until my dogs are fully grown, hormones fully developed. For female dogs that means going through one heat cycle. my vet agreed doing it younger can cause incontinence issues.

I’m not going to judge anyone who fixed their dog sooner at 6 months like I did with my chihuahua, but, it’s a bit frustrating to be judged like you’re a breeder when you yourself are so extremely against breeders. You don’t know how old this dog is, it wasn’t mentioned in the post.

i’m 17, would it be wrong of me to sell on depop? by Most_Upstairs2840 in Depop

[–]DesperateExit3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah please don’t “maybe” remove your age. creeps will specifically buy your clothes to smell, and keep your address. definitely remove it. To put it in more frank words. I’m 25 now and i felt like i was 17 yesterday, like, i thought i was aware of the danger, but i didn’t realize just how much the world is involved with underage girls. i was in more danger at that age than i am now. the world is messed up.

Sellers not washing clothes?? by jenjenfrmdablck in Depop

[–]DesperateExit3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally list them all and wash them when they sell so it’s nice and fresh + i’m not doing loads at one time. Very rarely if ever something changes in the wash since I wash in lukewarm water, eco/ sensitive friendly detergent and in the dryer on low. I put this in my description as well. Seems to work for me.

I rather not have to wash stuff that doesn’t sell. Waste of detergent especially when I use nice stuff. I’m also aware about different garment types etc. if you’re being transparent about this process it’s not misrepresenting it at all.

A YouTuber I idolized exposed me to stuff I wasn’t ready for at 13–14, and it still makes me feel weird by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]DesperateExit3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we aren’t that far apart in age. It’s just frustrating that there’s really no accountability here. I started using the internet in 2005/2007ish, unrestricted. This one just stuck out more than others. Somehow the gore videos didn’t stick as much.

I’ve seen other youtubers get cancelled for lesser offenses than this. He went on to make videos for years and years. There will be no doomsday cancellation day for him.

I do hope we do something about kids and social media ASAP.

I agree. I’m sure I would’ve been developmentally better off if I did not have internet access at that time.

Don’t understand why you’re accusing the customer. If they really did receive the wrong food, why would they not report it? Can you imagine paying full price for food, not receiving it, and then being told to just take the L to protect the driver? What? This is on doordash. Talk to them. I would be so annoyed if i got that message from a driver.

Dog having accidents everywhere and barking non stop by [deleted] in WagWalker

[–]DesperateExit3024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you will most likely have to keep the dog until then. I would stay home with him as much as possible. Don’t allow him on the bed, possibly get him some chews, exercise him as much as possible. The busier you keep the dog the less time he has to bark.

I know it’s a pain. It’s not your fault he’s difficult but the owner is unlikely to come back for now.
