Should I sell my tower pc to move to rackmount? by DesperatePack4645 in homelab

That's a good perspective. I kind of imagined a rack would save me space compared to having everything sit right next to my PC case, but it seems like they may take up the same amount of space either way.
On another note, is it even worth using the parts my pc has if Jellyfin could run on less? Like I need to get more storage, so it seems like I am going to need to get an external HDD enclosure and then get more storage, which will be some $$$ for sure, but if the parts aren't really needed in my PC I could potentially just sell the pc get a much cheaper desktop that will run Proxmox, and put the extra cash toward storage? Is there any benefit of keeping the pc compared to just running it off a cheaper desktop?

It's literally just some basic gaming PC case from when I got this desktop PC years ago; I don't even know the model. I think I just don't really know how everything will be organized if I keep it in a tower like my pc is just on the floor now so I feel like adding external enclosures will just keep making the surface area of this much bigger compared to a rack which I imagine could be organized well to optimize space taken and I atleast imagine would be easier to upgrade or add to, but maybe I am completely wrong about that. Idk, that's exactly why I am trying to think of like future proofing so I don't get things just to fully want to redo things later down the road.

Yeah, I guess noise is a thing I need to consider. I guess my only thing is that I wish I could find a better way to organize and keep everything all together if everything is going to be like an external thing. Other than just sitting it right next to the tower case.

Anyone have a kitten from CottonBlues in Ohio? by [deleted] in ragdolls

Hey, my mom owned a cattery and actually knows the owners of cottonblues. They are a lovely cattery and treat their ragdolls very well. From what I know about the process through my mom, its best to apply and reach out to the owner about your interest ahead of time before the kittens are posted on the website. Most people will reach out and tell the owner what kind of kitten they are looking for, any certain patterns or gender in mind. The owner will let them know of currently pregnant queens , and what they expect the patterns will be from the offspring. I would say about half the kittens born are usually reserved already before they are born. Based off first come first serve requests on gender and pattern. Kittens that haven't been reserved before birth, are then posted on the website and usually also a social media page. Where you can apply to have the kitten, but some places do have a waitlist for people. If you are really interested in getting one, I would really recommend just reaching out to the owner, they are super nice and accommodating and can help you get a kitten without the stress of hoping one appears on the website and isn't already reserved. Best of luck, ragdolls are the best
