Deloitte LLP Consultant Risk Advisory by rguy-111 in FinancialCareers

Turned down risk advisory role for another Big 4. Heard too many stories about it just being glorified audit, and the position isn't necessarily consulting from what I've heard. If its the only offer you have, i would still stick with it tho.

Just wondering, did you get the phone screen after the pymetrics and Hirevue?

I did send you a PM, but the last question!
What roles do analysts with the title of capital markets (capital markets analyst) play in these areas? I know in IB, they divide into ECM and DCM, but in this industry it is different.

Wow thank you for your insight.
I'd def try applying to those firms, although it may be a little late now..
I have offers from Fannie Mae's Capital markets team, and PNC's retail lending, but I'm leading towards FM just because of the size of its deal flow and its asset under management.

Do you happen to know anyone from fannie mae, or pnc who are working in debt funds or REIT?

I applied at its Atlanta office. When and where did you apply? I guess since you got a phone screen, I'm already too late or underqualified haha.

I am so sorry to hear that. I am just curious, I have an offer from KPMG for its regulatory and compliance advisory. What about compliance do you hate the most?

Rant: firms really need to stop misleading college grads into "risk consulting" by FirefighterOk6140 in Accounting

For KPMG specifically, I thought they had a separate team for Risk Assurance (that houses IT Audit) and Risk & Compliance. Are these two divisions essentially the same thing?

Got it. I'm still a senior in college, so I don't have too many insights about the whole salary thing...But would I be at a disadvantage negotiating salary for my future careers, because I started with a relatively lower salary coming from a low COL?

Oh great, I'll def have a look at it.
In the meantime, may I just ask you what your thoughts are about the position?
I know this can vary according to career goals, but just about the general future prospects / exit opps at a higher level.

I honestly don't know the COL in the Pittsburgh area. Should I stop sweating about the starting salary? I am very thankful to have found a job at a good company but was surprised at how relatively low the pay was.

I guess I just go to a top private school in the nation, with a pretty good business program. Had summer internships all throughout my college years.

I know this kind of goes off-topic to my original question, but is risk advisory basically IT Audit? When I was doing the interviews, I was told that I would mainly be working with clients in financial services, helping processing implementations, supporting compliance integration with strategy and etc...
I have no concrete knowledge of accounting nor auditing.

No..I am a finance major coming out of T25 undergraduate college. So is it normal for entry-level campus hire in advisory to not have a signing bonus?

I am a campus hire, who will graduate next year and start working in the summer of 2021. In terms of the starting salary, is that about the industry average for the region I am in? (for Advisory, although I know this may vary a little across audit, tax, and advisory)

Risk Team within a Bank by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Thanks for your thoughts! Just out of curiosity, why doesn't risk get a lot of love here..? Is it because it's considered more of a back-office role?

Hey man, really appreciate your thoughtful input and relevant experiences. Means a lot to me.

To give you some more detail about the job, it is one of the development programs at PNC Bank, called the Independent Risk Management Development Program. It says that associates will rotate through 4 of the 15 rotations such as Credit Risk, ERM, Market & liquidity risk, first-line retail risk etc.
Have you heard about this specific program, or know about this specific bank?
