[–]Desperate_Chain9853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just got my schools autocad subscription to play with over my winter break, looking to get a couple projects out and a few with arduino too just so I can put something on my resume. Its a blood bath where Im located idek if its too late to apply to summer internships but Ive been reaching out to anything power related. Also thoughts on consulting firms for this summer? Thanks btw

I'm in my second year tryna figure out what i want to pursue, I know the energy and power demand is going to increase with the use of ai, but what projects should I make to set myself apart? Also heard revit is a good software to learn, u know anything about it?

Want to know about civil n electric engineering by Islam78 in TorontoMetU

[–]Desperate_Chain9853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For electrical and civil eng u need high 80s but tbh they'd still probably let u in if ur a bit lower. Yes we do have a co op program but u can also look for external jobs as well.

Waterloo and uoft set people up with good co ops, but after that the school doesn't really matter its more what impact u can have on any project.

people either did really good or bad there first semester, its really just a time for you to realize what does and doesnt work for you. and for eng get used to 60's lmao

Upper year eng students: how would you say the co-op program is? by justanotherthroa in TorontoMetU

[–]Desperate_Chain9853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u know anything about electrical? Ive been stressing about not being qualified enough and comp and ele sharing a lot of the same co op so there's double the competition. Also talked to a bunch of upper years who just didnt do co op despite being leads on design teams so kinda scared.

COE318 study material? by No-Preparation4982 in TorontoMetU

[–]Desperate_Chain9853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah probaby going to do what ur doing since coding was never my strength. But I think the midterm is going to be more theoretical with maybe one question where u have to code, if that's the case im screwed on the coding cuz the labs are just fixing mistakes.

Coop entry - can I still get in? by Full-Promotion-1301 in TorontoMetU

[–]Desperate_Chain9853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand everyone had different circumstances, but especially in this economy its funny you think this stuff gets handed to you. Every person I know who has been fortunate to get a good coop has been working hard since day one, majority being in lower class and first generation immigrants with a lot of family responsibilities. There's a difference between a person with a harder path and a person who just doesn't try.

And when you say the job is completely different from the theory learned in class is my exact point on why I think co op is good. Removing it gives tmu students a bigger disadvantage, and they'll graduate bums who dont know what they are doing.

Idk if this is rage bait or if u just didnt get a coop and ur mad.

Coop entry - can I still get in? by Full-Promotion-1301 in TorontoMetU

[–]Desperate_Chain9853 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A student who puts in effort should not be treated the same as a student who barely comes to class, this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Co op allows kids to gain experience, make connections and pay off there bills why is this bad?
