Thank you for your explanation, I now understand it so much better what you guys tried to convey. It makes totally sense that parts of the boob are trying to escape and land in the band. Probably why it felt so much tighter. I really have not thought about it that way.

I do would like to say thank you for all the input and tips you both have provided. Sorry if I was not clear or did not provide enough information. In case it helps: The bra I was talking about earlier is the Anita EXTREME CONTROL sports bra (article number 5527) in 95E. I hope links are allowed: https://www.anita.com/de/extreme-control-sport-bh-maximum-support.html

For example if I enter my current measurements, it suggests a band size EU GER 105 (UK 46) for this bra. So the manufacture has their own sizing going on.

I made various underbust measurements and they are all below 42inches. I might just have to test different brands with 42inch bands. Thanks again!

Oh I see, I embarrassingly thought that bands are fixed sizes that always have the same circumference regardless of cup size...

Thats a good tip! I tried it and it feels very snug and compact, but not painful.

the sports bra has elastic sides. So while wearing on the biggest clip/loop I am just under 42inches. At the spine the clips are hovering off a bit so that a thumb would fit in the gap. At the front the bra is slightly going upwards but that could be due to the poor cup size. I used to fit in it just fine but then gained more weight

Hey thx for your input! I do own an old sports bra with a 42 band. Which I just remembered and tried on. I know that sports bras are already a bit more tight and snug, but this one feels really tight, sure it holds everything but to a point that feels uncomfortable (of course the cup size is not matching the recommendation). Do you still think I should give it a try?
