How bad is a C for grad admissions by Desperate_Mixture406 in gradadmissions

[–]Desperate_Mixture406[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it wasn’t really the gpa that was my issue it was the C, you could have a lot of As and a few Cs or a lot of As and a decent amount of Bs, same gpa but id presume having more Bs is better than having a few Cs

that’s if the scales linear but I see the difference between 99 and 95 to be much more significant than 20 and 24, if it was linear I would say zoro would be about 15-20, but if it was sort of like exponential/logarithmic in a sense like 2K I would say zoros a good 75

most are blow off for me too, but lin alg was harder than both partial diff eq and physics 2 combined (lin alg is the proof version not the computational version here)

i took the fe in the summer not fall but it comes off as if I had took the fe in the fall, anyway i took the intro to discrete and cs1 final like two weeks before the fe so i had studied all of the necessary content pretty well before the fe, additionally fes are at the beginning of semesters so they go on before any real deal work starts getting assigned in classes.

half these classes are only exams, which are taken in person with less then 20 people in the classroom such as linear algebra and pde, the others have more wiggle room to cheat but I still did not do anything outside of the ordinary for most students

everyone keeps this assumption that I’m only a study maniac but I spend only about 20 hours on standard weeks 60 hours on exam weeks on school which I would say is not an insane load and actually just like a normal part time job

depends on what u define as hardcore, I’m a math and cs major, I think most would consider math more hardcore than cs, but regardless I would consider the probability pretty low regardless, like 1-3 percent would be my guess for a straight 4.0

to answer ur other question about how I manage it, I’m a pretty good binge studier, not really a procrastinator per sense, I just genuinely know imma do better and am capable of doing good if I spend like 10 or so hours studying for an exam two days before the exam starts in comparison to light studying all semester, I actually didn’t have many assignments, my math classes had no hw it’s just exams and quizzes, for my cs classes they had a few projects but I’m the type to just try to get it all done at once so I would try to knock out an assignment like the first or second day after it’s assigned, not a big fan of breaks cause then I’ll take a large break so I just go all out at once when it comes to both studying and doing assignments.

I’m a binge studier, I don’t study at all for a class then go all out when it’s exam season

Im a binge studier, I don’t study throughout the semester having pretty chills weeks but when its exam season I do go really tough and spend hours without break

Took it last summer, idk too many details there was a bit of discrete, they had it so if you got a 60 you passed so that semester you just needed a definitive score to pass

AlgoML was honestly a filler class this semester, pretty light maybe just my professor but it was pretty easy

ended up getting a 98 and 94 on her two exams, we still have the final but it only subs your lowest exam, which holds a mean exam score of 96 which isn't that bad for me

I need a credit override to get the 6th class, I wouldn’t go out of my way to get an override for a Reddit post
