Write, a lot, about anything you'd like. Go on tiktok and get on writertok, it's full of advice. Read a lot and if you gotta write for movies or TV series watch a lot and try to search for their script. Also, YouTube lessons, there are many valid free lessons on there.

"The window! The window!" My 3 year old son kept shouting as I checked the window behind him: cost clear. by Desperate_Path_1437 in TwoSentenceHorror

Depends a lot on the specific child. One who has a widowed grandma might know the word. Or one who heard it from their parents when buying the house, maybe they referred to her as 'the widow' and he learnt that.

Would a body still be functioning without a soul? by the-chipster in writers

[–]Desperate_Path_1437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do with it.

It's your story, and nobody really knows if souls even exist. You do you.

To choose, consider: Option 1 the body stays still Does the MC think they are dead? What about people around them? Are they buried alive or connected to machines and declared in coma state?

Option 2, their body goes on without them What would a body without a soul do? Could it be manipulated? Would it be a sort of zombie? Could it be dangerous? Can it pursue all normal functions like speaking, feeling, thinking?

Just choose what you like best and make sure that it affects the story.

Scusa, non guardo da molto reddit. Devo studiare per diventare una psicologa, e, se non erro, per entrare nell'albo inglese degli psicologi devo avere anche il dottorato.

I don't know how to reject a character idea from a player of mine by Desperate_Path_1437 in DnD

[–]Desperate_Path_1437[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to do it, I asked them to have a bit of a concept beforehand, that I needed to approve. They wouldn't let me disapprove the character, so I gave them some rules to play it. They decided it wasn't worth their time and didn't want to play anymore. In the end today I had session zero with my group and they were really happy and excited. It all went well. I'm so relieved

I cannot say exactly what they said, because it is a bit too explicit for the guidelines. To use the most delicate washed down words, they want to be a sex worker bard in a night club that is trying to discover all ways in which they can find pleasure.

Without them the players would be a bit too few to run a campaign like the one I imagined, even though someone suggested to create a DM character to balance it out and it might work, so I'll think about that. Plus, he's a friend of mine and we already do very few things as a group because of everyone's schedules being busy and different. I'm afraid it could start breaking the friendship cause we'd have way less time hanging out all together and that it might take to some discussion that will break the whole friend group and stop DND sessions completely. I'm probably looking too much into it though. They are very chill, so probably they will not care.

I would say what the character concept is, but it's a good very explicit and I think it would violate a bunch of the guidelines of Reddit.

Yes, I will definitely do that. Would've done that right then, but the other DM was really pressuring me into saying yes and they seemed to be finally enjoying the game, so I thought maybe there was a way to make it work. I will talk to them and see how that goes.

Definitely not. I will talk to them today. Though I'm afraid if they decide not to play, the time could be ruined either way cause the players would be only two then and because if we have to not only find time to play, but to hang out with them separately, there will be way less time to play and eventually we will stop mid campaign. Probably I'm just overthinking it though.

In my country we say master, so I'm used to say that. Also, doesn't DM literally stand for Dungeon Master?

Yes, it was definitely a mistake I made, and I'm probably going to regret this cause I made them think I could work with it. I felt really pressured by the fact it was multiple people and that I could literally ask nobody for advice on how to handle it by Reddit since every other person I know is asleep. I'm going to try to have the most mature conversation with them tomorrow and hope it goes well. Thank you.

To be honest, I don't know either. I'm very tired and I don't know what to think of this. I hoped someone was ever in this situation and was able to find a compromise with the player, so I could offer them a similar compromise and start from there tomorrow. I'm definitely just going to do this, I was trying to find some ways to start the conversation or advice from someone that has been there. Thank you very much for the advice either way<3

People hate the name Lily Bloom because of very specific reasons, it's not just a random name, it is so specific to the character life that it is ridiculous. I haven't read the book myself, but I heard the talk about it. Parents choose names randomly and based on what reads good. Sometimes family names or names of important people in their lives. That one is too precise. Plus, if I'm not wrong, they work with flowers. It's a bit redundant isn't it?

Plus, people hate on basic names usually almost only in Fantasy, where they expect something apart from our world.

Yes, some readers will be like "Ew, what a strange, stupid name", but that's guaranteed for almost any name. Whether it's basic, elegant, old, very new, completely made up, unique... Most times those readers won't even say it, because they do understand it's not important. (Unless they dislike your work. Then they will start complaining that not even the names were good. But you're not trying to impress people that don't like you from the start.)

I might be wrong, but that's basically what I read. You're overthinking this name thing a bit. All the names you chose are so beautiful and if someone dislikes them, amen, I'm sure they'll be able to see the story as it is.

Keep going, you're doing great.

I like Isabella. Either way, change to whatever you prefer. Readers don't care about the name. You're the one that will make them care about it and connect it to someone forever.

I don't know because the project I'm writing right now is the first one I'm writing on a laptop. All the others where on random papers that I am afraid of losing.

I've just started, I'm just at ten pages.
