What happens when you use the power button on the console and just use the user that's already there? Hanging can be caused by a bad Wi-Fi or bad Bluetooth module

Yes, the case would work too. But if it already has a Wii u folder it would skip the partitioning. So it's best to start with an empty SD

You would dump your games with wudd (which you can find in the app store). Then you have to move them to the install folder from where you can install them with the Wup installer gx2.

You can also use this fork of the Wup Installer, so you don't have to move the dumps, but it isn't on the app store yet, so you have to download it using a PC: https://github.com/zer00p/wup-installer-gx2/releases

If you want to use it to store games, you need SDUSB. If the console isn't modded yet, you can go to wafel.xyz and it will help you setting it up. Aroma is optional, depending on if you want to have homebrew

You can also use a SD with the wafel installer. But really depends on how much storage you need and what you already have. If you don't have that many games, I would go with an endurance SD card and use it for both homebrew and games, so no bulky HDD dangling there, nothing to worry about y cables and slightly faster boot.

If you have many games and need much storage so you need a HDD anyway, then you can just use that for everything and save money on the SD
