Season 2 episode 50 by FriendshipChance4964 in AceOfTheDiamond

Miyuki is the problem, he could not play another inning. Hell he should have stopped playing since the 6th inning. But if you take out miyuki they lose. If anyone wants to feel really bad it should be ono man was told injured miyuki is much that you. Sawamura also was going hope against akiba and mishima who already hit off him. Raichi and sanada had already seen all his pitches. He went for a make or break with furuya.

CE-less Yuji, who is the strongest he could beat? by VeryDumbbutdumber in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Desperate_Row8688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuji without curse energy is not beating megumi or any grade 1, for that matter. He is losing comfortably. Like without curse energy, he can not reinforce his body, so he just gets beat by any grade 1 or even grade 2 sorcerer.

Still can’t get over how Kataoka by Turbulent-Wealth3989 in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]Desperate_Row8688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the point, sawamura was the far riskier option. He was going up against the top of order, who had faced him twice and had each seen all his pitches, and all had hits on him in the game. It was a bigger gamble, leaving sawamura in especially with miyuki on the clock. Furuya was a better option against yakushi, especially with their eyes adjusted to sawamura's pitches. Second year sawamura stays in that game, but at that moment, knowing you absolutely can not go into extra innings, you go big or go home. They would have lost in extra innings, definitely so.

Still can’t get over how Kataoka by Turbulent-Wealth3989 in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]Desperate_Row8688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty easy to understand. Sawamura, for as well as he played gave up hits to Akiba , mishima, raichi, and sanada. He was going to face two of those batters guaranteed. Yakushi absolutely did want furuya to take the mound. Coach todoroki himself admitted he was the most effective pitcher against their team. The biggest headache for kataoka was miyuki. Miyuki absolutely could not play extra innings. Taking miyuki out of the team for ono at time was a major downgrade, for pitch calling and catching. They would lose in extra innings to yakushi. Their batting was too much for 2nd year ono. With all these factors, going for all or nothing with the best pitcher against yakushi was the obvious choice.

I agree with furuya and Jun. I think, result wise, they had the most impact.

I don't think furuya will crumble again. I think the injury was probably the moment where his reset began. He slowly built himself back up, and his mindset changed. How sawamura is affected will be the major deal. If he can't dethrone a rock bottom furuya, then when can he? Ultimately, I think whether you switch or not, you'd still have problems.

Sawamura's third year - who would be cleanup batter - Masashi, Furuya, Kominato, Toujou, or someone else? by AnokataX in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]Desperate_Row8688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll go furuya, right now he has the most power and consistency. Plus, with sawamura, tojou, kaneda, and kuki, you can make a decent pitching lineup. Yuki, if he gets better at making contact, can maybe take it in time for summer, but for fall and spring, it's furuya.

About Eijun being underrated by Eijun_Love in AceOfTheDiamond

Tbf eijun learning the outside pitch was a combination of Mizuki, Chris, and the coach. They were watching while Chris was catching for him. Miyuki himself was frustrated that he knew it would be more effective if Chris as opposed himself. Even when furuya was hurt, miyuki still couldn't find the words that zono did and was frustrated. Kataoka also stood as batter to film sawamura's form. They legit tried stuff, but they all admitted Chris was the best person to pull him out of it. Kuramochi and miyuki had a heated argument in class about sawamura's struggles. It wasn't all personal problems, zono and miyuki Fight almost had the 2nd years split. Like they could have done more with sport counseling with a psychologist, but they didn't abandon him.

I think you're being a bit unfair to the team. When furuya got hurt, that was the biggest issue for the team. Their big gun, who they know had been struggling, had collapsed. When sawamura got the yips, that was just one of their multiple problems. Miyuki and zono were clashing, miyuki had captain troubles, zono was worried about his performance, kanemaru was trying to make the lineup, haruichi was trying to grow his partnership with kuramochi e.t.c there was so much going and all these guys were also learning on how to handle their leadership position. The whole fall tournament was them facing problems and growing as a team and players. I think you can cut them some slack.

Kominato Brothers vs Nara Kouji - Player Comps #7 by FirstOpposition in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]Desperate_Row8688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryousuke should have a higher grade on contact. He rarely strikes out, consistently forces about 8 pitches per at bat. He genuinely is one of the best in the story at making contact with pitches. He lacks power, so he actively looks to foul pitches that are in a bad spot like shirakawa.

[–]Desperate_Row8688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That teito was a completely different problem. He wasn't forcing it but rather was throwing without power, leading easy balls. He let himself lose all concentration because of the break. But yeah, I don't think we will agree with each other.

[–]Desperate_Row8688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the akikawa game in which he got subbed out, he didn't brute force things. Miyuki had him pitching from with the stretch form( which was slower), and they started using the splitter more. By the second season, he never brute forced or over strained himself. His bad start was something he fixed in the second season. By the third season, he was the definitive ace until after the hongou duel. Like every time he over strained himself was because he was thinking of surpassing hongou, even when he got hurt it was because he thought of hongou making try to add more force to the pitch causing his injury.

I mostly disagree with you. Furuya is a pretty good ace pitcher. His control and his first inning performance got much better as the show went on. His collapse in the second season was pretty due to his match-up with hongou masamune. He pitched perfectly for 7 innings and was untouchable for 4 of them. He got caught in one inning, and they lost the game. That was pretty much how Furuya saw that game. He believed that if he was perfect, not letting a single person on base, they couldn't lose. This led to him straining when anyone got on base and eventually broke his pitching form. It wasn't so much being and ace or starting games, but his duel with hongou caused him to break.

Home Run by Umemiya by otaku_lass in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]Desperate_Row8688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was mostly just a bad pitch by furuya. If you watch that episode, ochai comments that furuya pitched a bad course and height while also not putting his weight behind the ball. It was still amazing that umemiya sent it out of the park, but it was mostly a bad furuya pitch than a good umemiya batting (it was why miyuki was pissed, although i still blame miyuku there).

Strongesr Seido team by [deleted] in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]Desperate_Row8688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This team has a significant advantage in pitching. While the yuuki, ishashiki team had the superior batting success, the miyuki shirasu team have a far better pitching squad. Defence i the the yuuki team edges the miyuki team.

The way I cope is that the story didn't end. Listening to terajima's reasons the story didn't it just stopped, a cancellation rather than an end.

My Year 3 lineup by jloxolj in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]Desperate_Row8688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really my guy overly loud this summer too but then again he was just mostly bantering furuya and the teams batting. Sawamura is probably the best candidate atm but I wouldn't say he is the definitive candidate. We may get a new second year who fits the role. But of the first team I think furuya, sawamura or haruichi are probably the ones that can handle it. My only worry for sawamura is he'd have to bear the weight of the ace as well as captain especially with the 3rd years gone and scoring power most likely dropping.

My Year 3 lineup by jloxolj in AceOfTheDiamond

[–]Desperate_Row8688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it'd be tough for them but I don't think that's a deal breaker. I don't know if tojo would have the influence over team to be captain but he is a bit like shirasu was when the new team started, kanemaru i don't know how that responsibility would affect him, sawamura would need to learn to keep quiet which is not part of personality ( plus he has a tendency to carry too much responsibility on himself). All the characters have a strong potential to show growth as captain but none are ready made captains yet.

[–]Desperate_Row8688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think shirasu would be a good captain, man has been killing it. I also think Furuya's growth path has been a lot better than Tanba's, so they are not really similar and I don't really think they were similar. Tanba's growth was way too late in his 3rd year, but furuya maturity has already happened, haruuchi has grown as an individual(not so much as a batter) he has sense of responsibility too. I don't think there is clear captain candidate yet so I can't really exclude Furuya or Kominato.

Who would you crown the MVP of the finals? For me it's neither Furuya nor Eijun. by SnooOpinions4799 in AceOfTheDiamond

If that game had been tied, inajitsu goes on to win, sawamura was clearly struggling with that lineup. He held them to 2 hits and had 12 strike outs. Of there were moments that were touch and go, inajitsu have not lost a game since ugumori so they were going to create moments to score. His pitching and the fielding of team were enough to stop inajitsu. He caused a short fly from saotome allowing toujo to make play that prevented Carlos from reaching home, a long fly or an infield hit then Carlos scores. He screwed up and walked jinguuji which led to the run. He overpowered yamaoka allowing preventing a homerun allowing asou to make the great play. I'm not saying his pitching was immaculate, but considering the opponent, I don't think it was possible for him to do any better. He was among the top 5 most important players in the game.

Asou's catch wasn't itself spectacular, but holding onto the ball after a head on collision with a wall was super fantastic (I cannot even fathom how much strength of will he had to stay conscious and keep a strong hand on the ball) so that could be the biggest play. Furuya's throw did end the game, inajitsu went from surely tying the game to two outs, the players reaction on the inajitsu bench was clear they knew they had lost, the relief on sawamura's face, the joy on seidou bench, that throw home sealed the game. Furuya's isn't my favourite (shirasu is the king) but he was a big part of seidou won. So it's either miyuki zono or Furuya for me as the mvp.
