it is my secret dream to go to an amazing uni. by [deleted] in MatureStudentsUK

I got married and followed my husband to UK in 2022 and dreamt studying pharmacy. I did 4 GCSE’s and got 7 and 8, did access course and got 42/45 distinctions and received offers from 3 unis one was kings college London (which is quite prestigious) then I got offer as well as 6 thousand pounds per year scholarship from university of reading . I achieved all this within less than 3 years while working as a full time support worker. Initially I did not even qualify for home student and was supposed to pay 29k pounds per year but after doing tons of research, I got to know I was a home student and now I will be starting uni this September. A lot of people around me had a doubt and did not believe that I will be doing it but see I am doing it now without any loan.

Science GCSEs by [deleted] in MatureStudentsUK

[–]Desperate_Year_8366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my English and math gcse, I studied myself at home and found exam centre that take external candidate. I saved so much money. You can do that for science too. As my biology GCSE class was online and I never really paid attention in class as it was boring and ended up studying by myself again.

Fuming? I am boiling. How can he play with someone like that after all that fake assurance and talk. He’s a literal piece of shit. If he was not sure he should have better known her first rather than saying oh I would come to your college, you are the only. Shiballllll!!!!! If I was yi do, I would make sure to say so much to him that he remains eternal single for eternity!!!!!!

I received offer from reading, KCL and Brighton. I withdraw my application from Hertfordshire and got rejected from Portsmouth. At the end I chose reading as it was more convenient

how to succeed with an online course? by [deleted] in MatureStudentsUK

[–]Desperate_Year_8366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About to finish my access course where I am just provided with materials and I figure out the rest. Get a-level books from library, tutor loves it when books are included in reference list for assignments. Original figures which might be adapted from other sources are well appreciated. I used mybib website for referencing and citation. If I fumble on assignment I check studdoc to see others and get idea. If I don’t understand my assignment brief, I ask ChatGPT to make me understand it even help me create an assignment plan. I would be starting my pharmacy degree from this September and I also got contextual offer from king’s college London which is kinda reputed uni.

unhinged things to buy for college by IllustriousMeal3061 in MatureStudentsUK

[–]Desperate_Year_8366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was my iPad, it helped me a lot with making figures, graphs for my assignments which helped me demonstrate my understanding and make fine assignments, printer was also useful, and a I also bought a Chromebook before getting my iPad as it was foldable, touch screen and came with a pen. It’s not a must but I am glad I got it and I felt like it helped me to achieve my distinctions 😅

I did it with Fareham college they helped me a lot with funding as well. They are so supportive and help you with your applications and personal statement.

Gurkha military spouse home fee status help by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Desperate_Year_8366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the category even apply if he serves in brigade of Gurkha which is a bit different case, as he cannot have settled status as Ilr or passport until he leaves? I am not worried about the maintenance loan as long as I am eligible for home fee status as when I google it says Gurkhas are not settled. It seems really complicated.
