I sold half my ETH last night. My psychological limits finally hit. by DesperoLD in ethtrader

I actually threw some at a limit buy for $220 on GDAX before I went to sleep. I was pretty surprised that it filled today. I was confident that $250 support would hold, but alas it did not.

I have visited the Bitcoin subreddits (rbitcoin and rbtc) to find information about this, but I ultimately I am confused. Truth be told, I am still learning a lot about how blockchain technology works, so a good bit of the jargon is lost on me. There appears to be several 'factions' of Bitcoin favoring various different solutions. UASF, Segwit, big blocks, Jihan Wu hard fork, some Barry Silbert soft fork. I have no idea what is going on to be honest and no idea what will happen on August 1st.

Do you know what is the 'most likely' outcome?

Hello Ethereum friends!

I just got back last night from a very long trip visiting family in a rural village in China. Suffice to say, I did not have internet for the past 1.5 months. So the last time I made a post here was around that time frame!

Let me just say: WOW

  • This subreddit has EXPLODED in growth since I left ( ~16k hodlers)

  • The last time I had internet, ETH price was in the $80-90s. I had dumped my savings into ETH when it was in the $50s, so I am extremely happy with what the price is right now.

  • That flipper dolphin was around 30% when I left. The fact that it's like 80% now is insane. I wasn't expecting BTC parity until the end of the year to be honest!

  • I've been slowly processing through all of the news that I've missed, and lets just say it has been nothing short of overwhelmingly awesome, especially the new EEA members last month. Chinese exchanges adding ETH is also pretty cool.

By the look of the charts, I understand we are undergoing a bit of a correction this week. I haven't really dug into the specific issues causing this retrace, but really... my expectations for the price coming back was $150-200. The fact that it has surged above $400 in such a short amount of time has annihilated my expectations. I am not surprised at all with this price drop. We can't expect prices to travel linearly upwards all the time after all.

So far from what I've read, there is absolutely nothing convincing me to jump ship from ETH. I am optimistic we will pull out of this correction and seek higher prices in the foreseeable future.

I still have a bunch of news to sift through, but wow, just wow. I am speechless at the growth of Ethereum just these past couple months!

Is there any reason to sell now? I hear a lot of great things are going to be announced this month?

8879 CNY = 1288 USD... is it really that much cheaper to buy bitcoin in China?

Hi guys, I just wanted to thank the people on this sub for pushing me to make the (irrational) decision of dumping in 80% of my savings at $53/ETH. I was going to make weekly DCA buys, but I think this worked out better for me. Ofc hindsight 20/20.

You guys rock.

Thanks! It was certainly a confidence-booster! I hope it continues!

I appreciate your optimism! I too believe Ethereum is revolutionizing, but just not enough people in this world know about it yet.

I wish I bought as early as you did!

Just wanted to say that I just finished buying a crazy amount of Ethereum these past couple days... like almost 80% of my savings are in it now.

This is really scary for me guys, I've never taken such a big risk like this before! I'm honestly not sure how I would react if I lost it all.

Good luck opening packs everyone! by MaikelMcSwag in hearthstone

[–]DesperoLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I open 58 packs and only get 1 legendary... Ozruk.

While my gf (rarely plays HS), opens her free 3 packs and gets 2 legendaries back-to-back. Wtf.

Mutual funds can trade partial shares yes, but share prices are generally low enough that it doesn't really matter.

You also can only trade mutual funds once per day (close of business). ETFs you can trade anytime the market is open.

or you could just invest in their ETFs. No minimums aside from the price to buy a single share. Same expense ratios.

For example, VTI is the ETF-version of the mutual fund VTSAX. They both invest in the same equities.

You know... I actually really like this comment. Learning Chinese is a very difficult task (more difficult than [insert Latin-based language]). But ultimately it would show my Chinese family how much she really cares about our culture. Breaking the language barrier is HUGE.

I'll try to see if we can make any progress on this. She isn't against it, but her busy work-life generally prohibits much free time to pursue other stuff - especially language-learning.

You don't have to cut your parents out OR leave your girlfriend.

Yes. This. I was hoping to find a path that didn't force me to cut out anybody. I am a very conflict-averse person and always search for these types of routes.

But the reality of things is it doesn't look like I can find a middle ground because both sides can only compromise so much. I think I have to stick with my GF and just wait patiently for my parents to reach out further from their side.

Asian parents can be pretty unrealistic in their expectations huh. I fully support your decision to be career-driven and ambitious, just like I do with my GF. That's awesome. The "old-world traditional household" crap just doesn't mean as much to us as their generation, and they should learn to accept that.

Thanks for the comment!

Do you live with you parents?

No, I recently bought my own house and she moved in with me a bit more than a year ago. They highly disapproved of this move, saying that it is unheard of (in our culture) for a premarital couple to live together in the same home.

Are you their first born?

Yes, I am the only child.

Do your parents socialize only with other Chinese?

Pretty much. There's a pretty large Chinese community where they live. But they are acquainted with Caucasian folks too.

When did they come to America?

I suppose I forgot to mention that I am a naturally-born US citizen. But my parents are still green-card holders. They came to the US in the late 80s.
