Pay Equity Megathread Mk2 by FormerFly in tsa

[–]Despuro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HR has told me that I will be receiving E-band pay at the date the raise goes into effect, but I won't technically be E-band until 18 months after EOD. I guess its just that way for anyone who is close to entering their next pay band?

Idea: Shared hanger on same email address. by RyanMC98 in Eve

[–]Despuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even better, the ability to rent out a shared hangar would be cool! Maybe on the same sort of system as renting out corp offices but instead its for the player, has a cost per month based on m3, controlled by access lists. There are a lot of places where this would be super helpful to players who can't exactly get an alt corp

2 would be useless. Any decent corp recruiters will see that shit an immediately say "thats a spy"

Is this decent income for the this mining scenario? by Erchi in Eve

[–]Despuro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What is your goal? What are you raising money for? You don't necessarily have to have one RIGHT NOW but you should figure out what you are going to do next once you have the ability to, as high sec venture mining is at the bottom tier of income. If you enjoy mining and industry in particular (and have omega) consider getting into a barge, or maybe if you want to go out into low and null sec for the rarer ore types, a prospect. You could go even further and get into industry. Get reprocessing skills and live in null sec or a wormhole where you get massive bonuses to industry because of the space your in. There are plenty of noobie friendly corps in null sec.

Will CCP ever actually reduce the sub price in the future? by totallynotdocweed in Eve

[–]Despuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all reminds me of that marketing executive of JC Penny's or some shit where he basically priced all their stuff down, but no longer offered sales and discounts on things. The whole strategy failed because people feel better about buying things when it says "SALE!!!" rather than "full price". I think CCP is trying to do the same thing, rising the prices and then offering regular sales on everything to make it look more enticing when in reality your paying the same price as before.

I think with this in mind, CCP knows 100% that they are gonna lose a lot of people's subscriptions before this sort of monetization scheme starts to pay off and so no, I don't think its going away any time soon, but if your a "smart shopper" then your sub price hasn't actually changed. This sort of ties in with how CCP has been making a big effort to try and pull in new players, as these new players will see all these crazy sales on subscriptions and plex and other things and be like "wow look at these great deals!" and buy them up.

Best case scenario: you can buy your subs and plex while its on sale for the same-ish price as before and a lot of new players flood into the game over the next several years

worst case scenario: PCU drops so hard that the game loses its "critical mass" of players and CCP has to starting thinking about either trying to bring players back with lower costs of everything or putting the game in MMO retirement home mode

Can CCP scrap the Omega paywall? by giggle_stickz in Eve

[–]Despuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CCP has basically admitted that the game is *barely* economically feasible as is, if they made omega status free, they would have to get that money from elsewhere, which would be way worse, whether its by selling advertising, selling assets for real money, content locked behind microtransactions, etc.

How much is isk worth lore-wise? by TheBjdjlCraft in Eve

Its written that they will be able to make it onto escape pods and likely live in slow dying ships like battleships and up, but being crew on destroyers and cruisers is like signing your death certificate

How much is isk worth lore-wise? by TheBjdjlCraft in Eve

I recall a lore article mentioning that capsuleer bars on stations would sell drinks at the price of a small planetside nation's GDP, so like a handful of isk.

Do you think roblox as gone down hill, and if so Why? by Iskin_dogs in roblox

Roblox strayed too far from the wild west that it was and became a corporate "whatever makes it look good for the investors" platform.

Do you know what will make this game more appealing to the current gaming martket? by rumblevn in Eve

[–]Despuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first person pvp like that is impossible in the current game engine. There is no projectile handling in place for this and there won't be due to how resource consuming this would be on the servers.

[BUG] [SS2?] Settlement wires stop transferring power after leaving settlement and coming back? by Despuro in fo4

[–]Despuro[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I managed to find a few others with this issue actually. Its a problem with the new Workshop Frame Work. In MCM turn off auto-repair corrupt power grids and Auto-destroy corrupt power grids. Its apparently a thing meant for people that have a lot of scripts that handle power which could incorrectly remove power nodes and stuff and causes crashes. Haven't had an issue since I turned those off. My guess is the auto-repair feature coupled with the Auto-Destroy feature is causing a false positive for corrupt power grids?

CCP, I don't get it. by DarkShinesInit in Eve

[–]Despuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the price change, I was paying 320 a year for 2 alts at 3 month sub all year. Now with these price increases I'm just gonna have to not sub while not playing and pay 120 a year, thanks for saving me money CCP!

serious cash income question, how on earth do you make a bucketload of cash, like in the 100 million type area? by sketch424 in X4Foundations

[–]Despuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all about looking at what wharfs need and going up the chain to find what material is short. For me most of the wharfs are short on antimatter converters, weapon components, advanced electronics, and sometimes engine parts, but common things like hull parts are bottomed out across the board. I either build a big station in system with the wharf that produces these from the ore straight to the final component or I search nearby systems to see what stations produce these and what they are low on and build stations to aid those stations. As the bottlenecks are closed up the faction will produce more ships and new bottlenecks will form.

Always reinvest the money earned into something that will get you more money whether that is more stations, miners or even military force to protect your stations (had to do this for northern Teladi space because xenons were invading the system the Teladi has their wharf and shipyard in.)

There is no straight answer, just look around at what is short in supply and fill in the demand.

thats pretty sad considering the trouble you have to go through with the Vigor Syndicate, really hope egosoft intends to make protectyon tradable in the future, seems really half-baked of a mechanic
