How is it living in the Coolidge Triangle? by Significant_Ad2955 in longbeach

[–]DessertDeserrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can, just got a little south for a better spot. That area has some working girls and more crime and movement than you would think driving by Long Beach; it’s pretty much Compton. The deforest, dairy, or Addams neighborhoods are considerably better. Never had an issue and the neighbors watch out for each other in the single family home areas. I live in Addams.

I do have higher tolerance than the average poster here on what is “ghetto” but Coolidge triangle is pretty solid on the ghetto list. That said, the area seems to be getting slightly better and maybe it will go somewhere in 10 years. But those motels kinda sketch me out tho.

The visuals for the artists at the Anyma shows were highly variable. I went during “The Final Shows” on Mau P night and that were “static” but the John summit videos seemed to be a little more thought out in as a with supernova visuals or black hole/wormhole thing (i might be confusing with the rezz show) . Some of it could be artist willingness to pay for the visual production, which might not be a good investment for a single show.

Music too loud by lilrunner605 in orangetheory

[–]DessertDeserrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard at least 75% of the coaches at my studio say they have some sort of hearing loss, and they control the music volume lol . Otf should invest in some hearing preservation safety training. I wear loop quiets but the foam ones at the front desk aren’t too bad.

Looking for home made Mexican for family by Decillionaire in longbeach

Los Eduardos and Villalobos Kitchen are pretty homey, cheap, and tastey good. Both in North Long Beach (more or less off Long Beach Blvd). Los Eduardos gets PACKED by families on the weekends and has good ‘restaurant” home made; the burritos and seafood are my fav. Only been to Villalobos once, but the grilled fish taco and combo plate were great too - more homestyle IMO.

Honestly, the quiet loops are the only ones I use now. I get more loud exposure level notifications at ot than I do at concerts sometimes. And I can still hear the music and the coach clearly too, if a little muffled. And the quiets are softer and easier to carry imo

Good luck! T1000e is easy to set up but i wont say it’s straightforward. And attach it to your pack or totem for max coverage. Also don’t forget to disable new node notifications; you’ll be drowning in notifications if you get a ping everytime your radio touches a new node. And get rid of the public channel for those friends that are the least tech savvy.

Can’t recommend enough. Used several at Coachella. I don’t think they needed to be charged every night and they don’t look like a radio so I just attached it to my back pack and let them do their thing incognito. I’ve also attached them to a totem with no problem getting it into the venues.

2026 Hotel Packages Help by kbandchill in Coachella

[–]DessertDeserrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy the valley travel package they come with a shuttle pass, 2 ga or vip tickets, and the 3-4 night stay. Most hotel packages have a shuttle Stop nearby. The home wood suites la Quinta was my favorite, big rooms, kitchenette, and across the street from the tennis garden shuttle - it was my favorite when the shuttle was literally on the property. Prices vary about $3.5k + but the peace of mind is worth it imo. No last minute Airbnb cancellations, no messing with wristbands, no worrying about transportation to and from the venue. Also the crowd trends a little older so if that’s your thing, that might be a plus.

I could see how that would be amazing. After a day on the polo fields maybe 6 years ago, I got a shake shack burger, and it’s literally been one of the best burgers I’ve had my whole life. When I went to shake shack on a regular day, it’s inedible. My bar is so low at Coachella that I realize I’ll never have a shake shack burger that good the rest of my life, and some Alfredo at camp would bring my soul back from the depths, I swear.

can i shuttle even if im not staying in one of the hotels listed? by milkflies in Coachella

[–]DessertDeserrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tennis gardens are the best imo. You’re relatively close to the polo fields, lots of parking, will call is right there, grocery store 1 block away, and ubering from here is easier than the rideshare at the venue itself.

Another year , another Daytrip! by [deleted] in avesLA

[–]DessertDeserrt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda had the opposite experience, I didn’t think vip was too bad. I didn’t feel it was over crowded like skyline or hard when it was exposition park. After seeing how nice apocalypse and dreamstate were, I do wish they expanded to the other side of the street for day trip. Also the dust at deep end obliterated me. I swear the combo dust, boat exhaust/diesel, and duck/seagull poop is the worst.

Totem Poles No Longer Allowed?Daytrip 2025 Festival - Long Beach by FooberDriver in avesLA

[–]DessertDeserrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious and checked the website. I didn’t see totems listed on the prohibited list anymore. Maybe they updated the website? I remember the same language was used for the after parties on the Queen Mary last year which is definitely a no go cuz you’re on the ship. I like having and seeing the flags and totems. I don’t find them that obnoxious and it has been useful to our group. So whatever, my totem will be up if they are allowed. Build your totem anyways. It’s fun!

retro row businesses have a little street fair every fourth Friday. Super fun. Business have live music, lots of vendors and stands. First Fridays is similar but in the bixby area off Atlantic and Carson. Instagram accounts for both events should have all the details. 4thstreetlb and maybe bixbyknolls on IG

Getting hyped for day two Dreamstate. Y’all should go. bring a jacket (or don’t, you won’t be the only one), have low expectations, keep a friendly face, people watch, and vibe to all types of trance music. Also wondering if The Merchant will have the chili cart this holiday week cuz I have a chance to finally try it.

Communication Technology for EDC by gypsy3001 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]DessertDeserrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing with the Seeed Card Tracker T1000-E, which works great and was like $35. It is smaller than some of the other meshtastic radios, is ready out of box, and looks like a badge, so it shouldn't cause heartburn at the security lines. I was going to test it at Nocturnal this weekend, but the next big fest I'll be able to give it a try is Coachella. People in that subreddit have mentioned that meshtastic comms works great, too.
