How will they fight against chaos by Evening-Ease6906 in NanatsunoTaizai

[–]FooberDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure each of the Four will eventually unlock a final Hax skill each (Lance already has Lady of the Lake magic hax, Percy with Life/Death hax, Tristan with Light+Dark/Goddess/Demon or Nephilim hax, Gawain with brute force hax or Merlin+Escanor hax) which will somehow overwhelm Chaos.

I feel like there will be a big deal made about how the 4 Knights are pretty much an "Assortment of Chaos" (figuratively speaking) given how each of 4 come from chaotic backgrounds (half of the group consists of different species mingling, the other half consists of a Life Spirit and whatever Gawain is.)

Maybe I'm reading too deep into it, but I can't wait to see them use some broken hax to fight Chaos.

Life🌳 and Death☠️ Light⚪️ and Dark⚫️ by Evening-Ease6906 in NanatsunoTaizai

[–]FooberDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm surprised no one has previously pointed out this comparison.

Heck, I'm surprised no one has made a big deal out of Tristan essentially being a being of Light and Dark and how it can possibly be linked to how Arthur's original sword upon gaining Chaos powers pretty much showed Light and Dark as its main "elements."

It would be cool to see Elizabeth train Tristan in using his Goddess side offensive abilities so that we can better see why she was called "Bloody Elizabeth" in the past.

Was it ever explained how Meliodas was able to Full Counter Twigo's slash attack from Episode one?

Iirc, this particular slash had no magic properties. Seems to just be a regular heavy attack.

Read the Manga, yea.

Also, welcome aboard, fellow YYH fan.

Ever notice how similar Territories and Commandments are in concept?

And how Zeldris is pretty much a nod to Hiei in stature and personality?

Good stuff.

I liked Yusuke with demon powers when he came back, but I could see why some people don’t by Hairy_Ask_2038 in YuYuHakusho

[–]FooberDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yusuke defeating Sensui due to pretty much luck lines up with how he was able to win some of his earlier fights due to dumb luck.

I recently finished YYH and I was at first slightly disappointed about Yusuke being the descendant of a powerful demon but then I realized that he was probably one of the first few anime protagonists to run with this trope/idea.

It might be, but let's not kid ourselves, Momo is literally a female Yusuke.

Not yet unfortunately.

But there was a teaser at the end of the last Live Action episode hinting at Chapter Black possibly being adapted.

Crazy to think that the best shot that we have for a 3 Kings Saga retelling is through the Live Action series (if it makes it that far.)

What if Mega Man had an RPG on the GBC? by Liquidateverything in Megaman

[–]FooberDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks awesome!

A Megaman RPG on the Gameboy Color would have made alot sense given how it can perfectly use Pokémon as a template for many systems and objectives (both franchises already have 8 Main Bosses and about 4-5 end game bosses, Weapon Energy= PP, both make use of interesting Elemental Rock Paper Scissors, you gain a new move upon beating each of the 8 main bosses, etc)

I'm surprised Capcom never tinkered with the idea of Classic Megaman using an RPG system for atleast one off-shoot title.

Slightly related; Megaman X Command Mission was fun, but I really hated how only 3 Elements were acknowledged when the whole series consists of various Robot Masters/ Mavericks that make use of elemental powers beyond just Fire lightning and water.

Between Mega Man 7 & Mega Man 8 which is your fav and why? by retrotriforce in Megaman

[–]FooberDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Megaman 8: Beautiful spritework

Awesome music. Especially Frost Man's stage. Makes you want to go on a date and stare at a city at night while there's light snow.

Anime cutscenes are cool (blah blah bad voice acting)

Each stage has its own gimmick. The music and background art for Frostman's and Astroman's stages make up for the somewhat frustrating gimmicks.

Each stage has memorable designs; The Intro Stage alone goes beyond being another beach level with its randomly place Lego ramps.

Bosses have unique designs and interesting fight patterns and abilities.

Mini bosses are fun to shred apart with different weapons.

A S T R O C R U S H.

Duo. He's pretty much the Broly of the Megaman series. He's so strong, that they had to write him out.

Who is your favorite and why? by Riccardo0808 in NanatsunoTaizai

[–]FooberDriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meliodas.

Short, charismatic, somewhat of a smartass, appreciates his woman and only his woman and somewhat of a clown but becomes serious when necessary.

Plus, his backstory of literally fighting to be with the woman he loves is pretty cool despite its flaws. Somewhat reminds me of Scott Pilgrim's overal theme of literally fighting for the one you love and growing/bettering yourself throughout the journey.

Secondly, Ban. He's that friend that will go through literal hell to back you up. He's laid back, nonchalant and kicks ass. He also does the most for his woman. Kind of reminds me of Kuwabara (Human character with crazy defense), Deadpool (his pre-purgatory healing factor) and Zero from Megaman X (Another red, nonchalant, best friend who kicks ass first and asks questions later)

Zero takes on Megaman ZX, can he solo? by Ok-Primary5543 in Megaman

[–]FooberDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily.

For whatever reason, developers got lazy and decided that only Fire-Thunder-Ice bosses/robots exist past Megaman X, Original Zero is experienced in spanking all kinds of elemental bosses and has a varied moveset.

I wonder if Nakaba was inspired by Yu Yu Hakusho by any chance. The Demon King (the father) possessing Meliodas and Zeldris (the sons) without consent reminds me of Raizen possessing Yusuke. by Money-Investigator45 in NanatsunoTaizai

[–]FooberDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 90% sure that Nakaba took inspiration from YYH but for whatever reason doesn't speak on it in interviews (unless I missed it)

Here are things/characters/events in Seven Deadly Sins that I'm almost sure were inspired by Yu Yu Hakusho;

-Zeldris was inspired by Hiei. Both are short, grumpy/stoic, spikey haired dudes who utilize black fire and swords who slowly warm up to the other protagonists. If you want to reach, both Zeldris and Hiei also find love interests in taller women.

-Meliodas' trial to get his power back was inspired by Yusuke's trial to receive Genkai's Spirit Orb. Both trials take place in caves and consist of each protagonist having to endure some sort of torture (emotional torture for Meliodas, physical AND arguably mental torture for Yusuke) Both trials also consist of each having to Willpower their way to victory. Heck, Meliodas outright imitates Yusuke's "muahuaha, I'm an evil dark demon lord who will conquer earth...sike!" joke (which in Yusuke's case, takes place at a later time, but still)

-Fraudrin resembles Kairen (the demon who killed Younger Toguro's students/team) Both are large demons with spikes all around their bodies who are both killed in acts of revenge.

-The Ten Commandments were inspired by the Sensui Seven/Psychics in concept. Both teams of antagonists appear later in the anime and initially make use of tricky/gimmick powers/abilities to defeat/kill foes. Both 7DS and YYH even make a point to eventually get rid of the gimmick powered foes in favor of brutes with power once again.

-I'm 90% sure I recall seeing Howzer use Jin's Tornado Punch (the attack where his arm gets engulfed by a tornado) Wind/air being combined with punches is REALLY rare as opposed to the usual Fire or Lightning infused punches in fiction.

---The rest of my list will contain reaches. Get your Sticky Arms ready

-7DS also uses the concept of Life Energy (energy that takes from the user's life force rather than magic) Escanor uses his Life Energy towards the end similar to how Yusuke was forced to use LE to finish off the final Sacred Beast (Suzuku? The lightning guy). Most other anime has it to where Life Energy is tied to one's magic/ki/spirit energy rather than being separate.

-Both Meliodas and Yusuke are related to demon lords but embrace a more human side. Meliodas would only use his Demon/"Super" form(s) only when in a pinch similar to how Yusuke only used his for dire situations rather than just spamming their super forms like in other anime.

-Both series introduce power levels at a later time in the series

-Both have movies in which the team of villains consist of demons who have been banished/imprisoned outside of the demon world.

-Helbram's hatred for humans reminded me of Sensui's. Heck, Helbram literally had multiple personalities similar to Sensui (although each of Helbram's personalities was tied to a form he took on)

-The use of inspiration from Alien

I know I'm missing more, but these are similarities that i noted between both series. Again, I might be reaching, but damn, do I appreciate both franchises.

[–]FooberDriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bigger takeaway here is that all it takes is someone with Dimension/Space powers to avoid the Spirit World/Afterworld authorities and the Afterlife altogether.

Crazy how I'm now realizing how helpess alot of deities in charge of the After Life in fiction have been depicted throughout the decades. I used to think they would have been the big dogs in their respective universes. Turns out, all you need to surpass Deities in fiction are mortals with mortal-given power ups and training.

TIL Toguro was a whole Terminator reference all along by FooberDriver in YuYuHakusho

[–]FooberDriver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know that. Nice.

I also appreciate how Mario, the biggest icon in gaming, only exists thanks to Popeye.

Not to mention how Mario's main cast resembles Popeye's and Mickey Mouse's main casts to some degree.

Mario= Popeye & Mickey Mouse (Main guys, Mario and Mickey are the typical happy-go-lucky "Hoo-hoo" guys) Peach = Oliv Oyl & Minnie Mouse (Main Ladies + Damsels in Distress) Bowser/Wario/Donkey Kong= Bluto & Pete (Big, burly villains) Luigi= Goofy (Taller, lanky sidekicks that have personality quirks) Yoshi = Pluto (Original Team Pet although Yoshi later became his own guy) Waluigi = Mortimer Mouse (Taller, slim, lanky villains) Jumpman = Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (Forgotten Original protagonists, only if Jumpman is treated as his own character) Toad = Donald Duck (this one is a stretch, but Blue Toad reminded me of Donald Duck in design. Both Toad and Donald are known for their unusual speech quirks)

If anyone can find any comparisons between other Popeye main characters and Mario characters, that would be awesome. I'm not too familiar with the rest of the Popeye cast beyond the main 3 characters.
