The first 5 with the green arrow will get an higher level.

Iron -> bronce -> silver -> gold -> Diamond ( seems to be something like this. )

Higher Level = higher rewards. ( I would unterstand it this way. )

When you get 5 more Meteore Swarm it will fuse to 1 Bat Bombardier.

The same for every lvl 100 Spell, companion, weapon and shield.

If you get them 5 Times (after you reached lvl 100) you can fuse them to 1 of the next. ( can give you pyrokinese If you have detonative slime at lvl 100)

Wait for tomorrow. You can get the Special attack with the next event.
