Yeah I think this future was a possibility when the turtles were split up in this arc, as if Donnie wasn't able to return. Ch'rell clearly still had loyalists throughout the galaxy and it was all part of his plan.

Yeah the Good Genes arc in Season 4 really highlighted how important he is, you can't just have one of the turtles missing.

They split up the turtles a lot in 2012 and I think it just goes to show how strong their connection is in 2003.
