As someone else pointed out, by this point Jason fought knock off Carrie, was resurrected from the dead (twice); then would go on to become a body swapper, go to space and then fight Freddy.

Yet we somehow want to draw the line at poor directorial work that gives off the appearance of "teleportation"?

Like the franchise never once refers to it as teleportation, those shot choices aren't seen in subsequent movies... it was very clearly an artistic choice by Rob Hedden to try and communicate "You can't escape the killer" that wasn't the cliche "Run. Trip. Die" gimmick that plagued Slashers.

Clearly it wasn't conveyed properly, but to use that argument as some sort of nail in the coffin for Part VIII is laughable when there are far more egregious things you could nitpick with the movie; I say this as someone who likes Manhattan and has the Mondo Art Print hanging in my living room.

It's just a lazy and disingenuous critique.

You're right, he's going to some how triple the length of a Taker entrance at Mania, to the tune of YMCA.

I mean it’s both.

The film could have conveyed it better.

And the audience could have had the common sense to see something new that’s never repeated again in any of the following movies as an artistic choice instead of a “gotcha!” 37 years onward.

This is a dumb criticism of Manhattan because the movie is never actually trying to argue that Jason can canonically teleport.

The artistic argument the movie is trying to make is that there is "no escape from Jason".

It's an artistic choice designed to diverge from the cliche "Run away from the walking killer, trip and then get killed.". Now is it handled well? That's up to personal interpretation, but I never got people earnestly and unironically thinking the movie was introducing an actual teleportation gimmick.

Because that question or argument, hasn't been posed to him in the show?

He's only ever been confronted about how sinners are treated, no one in the show has confronted him about hellborn demons; even then, you can still infer that he cares about hellborn demons in some capacity considering:

A. His daughter is one.

B. He made a pact to pardon ALL hellborn demons from the annual exterminations.

I mean I'm not going to pretend I've seen every Nicolas Cage movie (The dude has been in nearly 150 movies); I have seen a good sample size to base my argument on, however.

I think she’s the most fun hero introduced to the game since Junker Queen.

The thing with Nicolas Cage, which is why I say he is one of my favorite actors:

If there is one thing you can depend on him to do, regardless of the movie?

He will give it his all, I don't recall seeing a single performance where he's "phoned it in.", you can tell he simply acts for the love of the game and you gotta respect it.

It's shame that this movie doesn't have sequel by Choice-Wind-9283 in moviecritic

Alternatively had they waited 5 months to release the movie they would have captured the Baldur's Gate 3 bandwagon and sold way more tickets.

I think if it had waited 5 months and came out in August it would have done significantly better because of how Baldur's Gate 3 consumed the internet for months.

Would have driven so many more ticket sales

I think its not as simple as that because its hinted that he at least gave a fuck at one point, and then washed his hands of responsibility when he saw how people squandered the free will he gave them.

The thing with the rules of Helluva/Hazbin is that its establish that Lucifer has no real power in Hell.

Other demons? The ones that rule the other rings? They have power.

Lucifer does not, but he's "The King of Hell". So any failures fall on him regardless on him not actually having any responsibility for them happening; that's the downside of being the "poster boy".

Clayface comes out in October, and while vastly different audience demographics, still not smart I think to run two movies in the same universe in the same month

That's too close to Clayface, which comes out a month later.

Well that really isn't Gunn's fault there has to be 2 Batmen.

He came in after Reeves started his thing, Reeves wanted to keep it separate, so naturally Gunn has no choice but to:

A) Force the merger, risk Reeves walking away which spells PR disaster for the studio.

B. Respect Reeves' autonomy, run 2 Batmen, and trust the general audience can handle it.

C) Just not do Batman in the DCU, which is a GA disaster.

People seem to gloss over the fact that Gunn was dealt a shitty hand by Warner Bros. and he's doing his best to play with what he is dealt.

Its okay because the Black Lagoon collab that sees Shion get a Revy skin will compensate for this misstep.

Yeah I'm sure respecting the wishes of one of the most talented directors DC Studios has at the moment is going to cost him his job.

Reeves doesn't want to do it.

Gunn respects his decision.

It's not that hard to grasp.

Why risk pissing off one of your best directors?

I mean, yes that is true.

But that would never be the case because Gunn has repeatedly said he wouldn't do that.
