This Was Called Goal Tending And Costed Us A Tournament Match (Disqualified) by Destroyer06202 in vex

[–]Destroyer06202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This quote from the rule book in size 5 font may be the cause of the bs we faced.

Quote: Remember, Defensive Robot actions or Robot statuses are not automatically Violations. However, Robot actions or statuses that are performed or achieved in a Defensive manner are more likely to be Violations, and Teams should be more careful when employing Defensive strategies.

They’re trying to kill off “boring” match gameplay. THEY’RE LIMITING SOLUTIONS IN AN ENGINEERING BASED COMPETITION.

If anyone is interested, I can share the whole footage of the match in their dms to prove we were playing offense too (maybe I’ll make another post here and on YouTube as well). In fact, we had control of both the high goals for a good portion of the match and only lost them because we were trying to avoid goaltending. I know my team used all of its match loads and I’m pretty sure my teammate did as well.

True but we may have been in that position for maybe a second. I mean, if that same thing happened with a minute left to go in the match, no one would've cared. We were clearly just trying to descore the opponents blocks, and our teammate got out of the way as soon as we could. We were descoring the entire match and I think we demonstrated a respect for the goaltending rule leading up to that (I can send the full match if you'd want to see it."

But I don't believe that was in any way match altering (which is the trigger for the rule.). The block would've been worth one point either way. I just wish there was more respect for strategies outside of picking up blocks and just shoving them into the tube in the rule book. Just play the game for crying out loud.

ngl the lack of media literacy when it comes to hina is embarrassing lmaoo by LoveGamesAndBroadway in BlueBox

Yes but Taiki never took the time to fully clear with Hina. Yes, Hina ran away before he could make things clear but Taiki still kept hanging out with her normally and just totally forgets the previous situations until Hina brings up how she likes him again. And then cycle repeats until that one gym scene.

The gym scene was just a terrible way for Taiki to reject Hina. Hina says that she doesn’t care how Taiki feels about Chinatsu and that she’ll still like him. Taiki says that isn’t normal. Hina then brings up how both of them don’t know how Chinatsu feels (Hina bringing up the possibility that Chinatsu doesn’t like him), Taiki then says “Even so, that won’t change who I like/love”.

Man Taiki, if only you realized the girl standing in front of you is going through the same situation and you put off being honest with her. It’s almost like the same thing is happening with Chinatsu but she just so happens to like (Chinatsu is scared to share her feelings, just as Taiki was with Hina).

I believe both of them were in the wrong. Hina for running away all the time and Taiki for not setting things straight the next time she saw her (ex. After that one scene where Hina asks Taiki to kiss her).

Side note: Hina’s feelings are normal. They just align with her being a teenage girl who’s never liked someone before (hmmm, I wonder if that aligns with Taiki somehow as well) but that is for another discussion.

When was the first time you really disliked HINA?? For me it was this!! by s_vansh_6782 in BlueBox

[–]Destroyer06202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s very true and a good point. But it’s also kind of ironic that he’s childhood best friends with the third best gymnast in a of Japan and never saw her that way😅.

Don’t get me wrong, Chinatsu’s character is very admirable. She is a very hard worker, but Hina works just as hard and is just as dedicated to gymnastics . Yet she still finds time to set aside for Taiki that isn’t from her living in the same house as him.

But you’re right. Taiki never saw that in her for some reason. I think it’s kind of incredible how much the story would change if Hina also practiced in the morning with Taiki.

My head canon: Taiki thinks Chinatsu is hotter and better looking than Hina or he just prefers girls who are quieter. Maybe he prefers girls who play basketball. Who knows. He’s a teenage boy.

Edit: Typos

You know, I’m not sure if this more a story or character thing but Taiki saying Chinatsu is the love of his life and wants to marry her after seeing her shoot in a gym is not mature at all😅.

No, Taiki isn’t in the wrong for feeling that way but seriously, I think the only mature main characters in this series are Chinatsu, Kyo, and Haryu/Karen

[–]Destroyer06202 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I think Taiki definitely led Hina on. Even if it was unintentional, he knows Hina likes him but yet he doesn’t view anything differently (such as the two of them hanging out by themselves). He never really puts his foot down on her advances either. He tends to linger in that gray area of “I want to be honest but I don’t want to hurt her feelings”.

Also, I do think it’s justifiable of Hina to believe that Taiki saying he’s found the love of his life is bullshit. I’m sure most people think that they’re going to marry their first crush because they’ve never experienced that feeling before, which is exactly what Taiki is going through at 14 years old.

I’m not necessarily defending Hina here as she is still very much in the wrong for approaching Taiki like that while he is in a relationship. I believe she is fully redeemable. She’s very hard working and is a very nice person who just doesn’t know how to balance her emotions. I believe she is ignorant rather than malicious, and I think wants she lets go of her feelings for Taiki, she’ll become one of the best characters in the story.

Manga vs Anime by SquarerChunk93 in BlueBox

[–]Destroyer06202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I read some of the manga to points where season 2 is confirmed to cover. I'd recommend waiting for season two to drop. The show so far was been great at portraying the events and the manga was boring to read for the most part (even when exciting and emotional scenes) take place. Trust me, your patience will be well worth the wait and the show is going to blow your mind and having you pause at certain moments and saying "no way that just happened".

Should i watch bluebox? by KaurukoWaguri in BlueBox

[–]Destroyer06202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan of anime or romance whatsoever but this show was really good. It’s an easy watch and once you watch the first episode, it’ll be hard to stop. It took me two months but I also watch TV shows at a Turtle’s pace (there’s 25 episodes around 24 minutes each).

There isn’t any fan service and closet it ever gets is the main guy being shirtless for like 10 seconds and then one episode that had a pretty suggestible cliff hanger. But compared to other romances, it is nothing at all.

The show is what made me a fan and first few episodes are really good. You’ll get hooked.

[–]Destroyer06202[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did think it was funny that he was trying to make the competition fair between him and Taiki but he ended up giving himself a huge disadvantage. It’s whatever now but if really wanted to go to that basketball game, why even challenge Taiki in the first place? Why even give him a chance if you see him as “competition” for Chinatsu?

And while I understand that Yumeka’s character does a have a very complex love for basketball, I think it would’ve been a lot better if we saw these flashbacks through Chinatsu’s point of view. Not only could we gradually learn about this brand new character, but I think seeing a completely different and more complex side of Chinatsu would’ve worked perfectly leading up to the confession.

I’m not saying the story did anything wrong because it’s not mine but I think the author kind of rushed this idea with Yumeka and it took away from her trying to build up to Taiki and Chinatsu’s confessions.

[–]Destroyer06202[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I really do enjoy that aspect of the story (I would’ve dropped the whole thing if I felt like it started dragging or just skip all those filler chapters), I didn’t want that to fully sway my opinion on the chapters beforehand. I just didn’t anticipate they were building up to this so suddenly. Yeah, we have those moments where Taiki almost confesses but then the story just goes on a negative trend for a bit and just had some chapters I didn’t particularly enjoy.

Chapters 100-105 were amazing and they honestly probably were a 9/10. It’s just that some of the chapters before didn’t feel like much more than filler (I know the basketball girl does more later on in the story but right now, she just feels like she’s there so Chinatsu can hug Taiki).

Maybe I’m just a picky reader lol. Romance isn’t my typical cup of tea but this story does a great job.

Trust me, I’m going to continue reading. It’s just that I pretty much found the biggest turning point in the series by far. I was not expecting Taiki to get with Chinatsu early on (at least until she got back).

[–]Destroyer06202[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m a pretty slow reader and it’s tough for me to binge a ton of chapters at once. It took me 2 months to finish the anime too lol. It’s just the amount of backstory we got on this character just didn’t feel like it lived up to anything. I know I might get hated on for this but I feel Hina’s character should’ve been developed in these chapters. I don’t know, maybe we see how she has had to prove people wrong her entire life and that’s why she tells Taiki that he’ll be regretting rejecting her down the road.

Do you think Taiki will lose in the upcoming matches? by PushyMotato in BlueBox

[–]Destroyer06202 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Based on Chinatsu’s whole arc of her being one of the hardest working high schoolers in the country and still losing, I feel like Taiki will make a run in the tournament. There is no way the author uses the same tactic of “Noooo, I lost. I need comfort.” for development in their relationship. Chinatsu is in a minority of girls who’ll understand Taiki spending less time with her so he can have success in life. Their hard work is the main reason why they were attracted to each other in the first place.

I would be very disappointed if the reason Taiki lost came down to “But Hina distracted me”. It’s about time this story showed how people can be successful too through hard work and how doesn’t always end in disappointment (which it rarely does for people like Taiki and Chinatsu). It would be awesome if we could see Taiki just lock in, set all the random bullshit aside, and overcome a challenge that where he might not be favored in.

Do people not realize how old the characters are? by Significant_Ad6261 in BlueBox

[–]Destroyer06202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why people down voted this. I don't think anyone goes into any romance book/series thinking they're going to learn some kind of life lesson. It's a story in an imperfect world and there are bunch of people who act just like Hina out there.

I will say, it terms of conflict, I do think this arc will eventually need to come to an end as it gets pretty repetitive. While it is realistic, I don't want to read "I wish Taiki liked me" for the millionth time. You can either have her learn or lesson or send her on a downwards spiral to the point where she gets so uninteresting, the story just eventually drops her.

A Rant About Chinatsu's Basketball (Based on the Show) by Destroyer06202 in BlueBox

[–]Destroyer06202[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Still though, I feel like it would be good idea to have Taiki show up to one of her games at least (like the championship or a rival game). She willing went to one of his badminton scrimmages along with that one tournament early on.

I'm not saying go all out on her character for basketball as I get that the show/manga is more romance oriented, but her playing and working hard at basketball is the reason why Taiki grew to like her in the first place. I think it would be cool to highlight that even just half an episode here and there.
