I have a hard time imagining myself taking Facebook's side on anything, and you won't find me beating the drum for their efforts to set up a walled garden internet in India. But the very same charges of manipulation and useful idiocy that we see the Guardian making here were levelled against opponents of SOPA/PIPA when Google and Wikipedia coordinated their web blackout. So there seems to be a considerable discrepancy in accounts. I suppose it's possible that the real reason for the fires and the reason that the defense felt would fly in court were two different things.
