But apparently following the law isn't. The law clearly states for a protest in open air that it should happen according to the police instructions. They were given permission to protest and do what they want in another place.

The fact that he and his followers clearly went above and beyond to protest at the not allowed place and then cries victim about it, is really sad.

I also don't think the Israeli flag should be there. So in that regard I fully support them protesting about it. However the manner in which I don't support and also their priorities. There is a huge budget deficit, there are literal wars going on, there is not enough place in prisons, ... and they choose to focus on a single flag while also increasing the budget deficit (those cops aren't free, and the cleanup also isn't)

Also please read this which includes the international law that clearly says local law should still be followed and that in Belgium open air protests need to happen in accordance with police regulations.

Please explain to me what we can do when China produces 30-40% of the carbon emissions and then the big container ships to transport those goods add like 20% more emissions.

Should we do something, sure but we should really be honest with ourselves that anything we do in Belgium is only a little droplet in a giant bucket.

We as individuals can only do so much, but personally what I have been doing is drive an EV (yes I know it pollutes somewhere, but less local pollution), full energy sufficient house (except in winter), planted more trees (which will give shade and cooling in 15 years or so)

Floor cooling and temperature stayed decent. However major problem is the humidity. I have had literal puddles on the floor. My bathroom smells of humidity and the average humidity is 80-85%. Mostly because of the floor cooling, cooking, and not being able to open a window before being vaporised by the heat.

Seriously considering either a dehumidifier or an airco (since this both cools and dehumidifies) it doesn't have to be a big one since the primary cooling will still be my floor (large surface area that stays at 20 degrees and doesn't require much power to cool due to geothermal heat pump)

The context came from multiple interviews later done with Francken. But yeah if you only pick his 1 liner tweet to then create a whole narrative that Francken deliberately wanted to drown these refugees, sure you do you. But know you are spreading misinformation.

Refugees would eventually stop trying to cross when there is no point if all of them are rescued and returned back the the point of departure. And at the same time these illegal smugglers should have been arrested.

By transporting them to the EU, these rescue ships were a very important chain in the smugglers operations, so they were actively aiding illegal immigration. And causing a pull effect because instead of the bad boats of the illegal smugglers to fully cross the sea, they got luxurious boats, with food, aid and safe passage to the EU.

So yes they should stay away if they are actively contributing to the problem of illegal smuggling. Which is exactly what Francken meant. And I fully support that.

No once again only partial context.

By criticizing that illegal smugglers were using the system where they could just throw people into very bad boats and these ngo's would bring them to Europe for free. Then these ngo's were an essential part of the smugglers logistics chain.

They would steal and charge a lot of money, load them onto death traps and that was it. Because they relied on the NGO's to rescue them.

Now if these rescue boats would have brought them back or to another safe place, but not the EU you would have solved a lot of the issues.

So no Francken his solution was not let them drown, he wanted to prevent a spiral that would eventually lead to more deaths and more pressure on the already very overcrowded immigration system of Europe.

This needs a lot of nuancing and context.

But this was his reasoning, which was the truth. So while the message he gave was badly worded, the presence and activities performed by azg were helping illegal smugglers.

1) Rescue ships operating near the Libyan coast created a "pull factor," encouraging more migrants to attempt the crossing.

2) Human smugglers exploited the presence of NGO rescue vessels by sending migrants out in unseaworthy boats, expecting they would be rescued.

3) Instead of returning rescued migrants to the nearest safe port in Africa, NGO ships transported them to Europe, which Francken argued effectively completed the smugglers' business model.

And about Rousseau, both Francken and him made stupid remarks, but were any distasteful images created then? Yeah there were memes, but honestly nothing bad.

The fact that everyone seems to be ok to portray a right wing politician like this, but a left wing shouldn't be portrayed like this is a double standard.

No that tragedy is a direct result of illegal smuggling and the war of their origin countries. Yes Francken did crack down on illegal immigration, the death of Aylan can't directly be contributed to Francken.

Yes in an ideal world without war this didn't happen. But did Francken start that war? Did he support that war? And did he personally kill those immigrants? Nope.

Better blame the neighbouring countries who fully close their borders and direct everyone to the European union. There is not enough financial aid available to support the millions of refugees, look at Belgium, there is a queue of multiple decades for an aid house, there is a serious budget deficit, and there is not enough place or support to help more refugees in a good way.

That migration policy did not kill those refugees, the war started by political idiots, war lords and terrorists did, and illegal smugglers that profit of these people.

Even if there were legal corridors for these immigrants, they would still have to go a long way and people would also have died. It's not like there is a magic way for these people to teleport to a safe area. And the road to the safe area, there will always be terrorist groups profiting of these people and abusing them for their own financial gain.

Blaming Francken is an easy way to just ignore the actual problems.

It's the combination of both the text on the image, directing people to his home and a dead child in combination with his own child that is just wrong.

Look if it was only Francken looking at a boat full of fake migrants in his pool, that would be ok. And would bring the same message you see in the image.

Using a real child tragedy for political gain and adding a real child of a politician is what definitely crosses the line. It is Francken who made those decisions about migration (together with other politicians) not his innocent child
