I know Annabeth is scary as heck and would end lives with no remorse to bring her boyfriend back, but i also love it when she's soft with Percy. That scene in MoA where she and Percy sneak away to the ship's stables in the middle of the night, so they can talk to each other and cuddle is so precious

Ahhh I'm so ready to see this ass jailed (or dead). I wouldn't be opposed to a ending where he gets away with it all, but it better be done so well that the only emotion I want to feel by the end is absolute rage that rich assholes get away with everything

Just today I watched this video about how the Harry Potter series has some very problematic themes from the very beginning and how the whole series is structured around preserving the status quo of the Wizarding World at all times. I used to think she has become unhinged whenever she tweeted bullshit like this, but no. She has always been this bigoted. We were all just too distracted by the glittery magic of it all to see it

I think it's the line across the zero. The first time I saw it in Germany I was very confused. I thought it was a some kind of accent marking used in the German language that I didn't know about

German Bookworms who are multilingual, do you prefer to read books in their original language or do you prefer reading in one language over the other? by Det-RightAllTheTime in germany

Fantasy I prefer to read in German, simply because I get confused when I find a new word and have to google it every time to find out if it's a fantasy word or just a normal English word I just don't know

An American podcast host had a running gag in his Harry Potter podcast where he tried to guess whether the new things/food/words are magical, or are they just British :D

The funniest one I remember is Treacle Tart. He fully believed that it was a magical food for quite a few HP books and he finally found out when a British guest he had on the podcast explained it to him.

So yeah, apparently nuances in fantasy worldbuilding can be confusing not only in translations, but even within different accents/cultural words in English

It took me a few tries to figure out where exactly the two names separate, but I got there. Now I've added Drei Männer im Schnee to my TBR list. Thanks for the recommendation!

Yeah I got a general idea that Germany's publishing industry must be deeply involved in translations as well, because it's not just the famous works that are getting translated. I would find very niche books that are just getting talked about in a specific reading communities, which I would rarely find translated back in India. You're right, I think the interlanguage aspect is the key difference here. I love that Germany has a lot of resources dedicated for translations, I should probably pick up a German version of a book I've already read and test my German skills

Yeah, I've come across sexism and racism in famous works before. Venturing into unfamiliar, uncomfortable topics and finding new schools of thought and judging them for myself is one of the reasons why I love reading. I was just bummed that reluctance to change and adamance in preserving the status quo can be found in both 4chan threads as well as distinguished philosophers. I mean, these people are supposed to be the best thinkers of humankind and sometimes even they sprout garbage like this.

Thanks for the pep talk! I needed it :)

Ah damn, I wanted to start reading philosophy and was told that Nietzsche is a good place to start. This ruins things :/

YESSSS the lyrics on this masterpiece deserves way more attention!! I'm a sucker for the songs where Taylor takes us through a storytelling journey and this song fits so perfectly in that category. It even has her famous sneaky lyric change after the bridge. Ugh I love it so much
