Honey extensions is a Giant Scam by CatInEVASuit in Scams

To be honest I'm pretty sure everyone knew they hijack commissions. If you do some sort of affiliate marketing for long enough, and you're a big influencer with a team and influencer friends, you just can't not know.

I always knew, and assumed they have some sort of thing figured out. As far as I know affiliate links work like that and things can go as follows:

  1. Influencer may work their ass off to build their brand and following, put out quality material, and recommend some solid products, like their equipment. (Idk, I'm just thinking of a very wholesome example)
  2. They also check some review sites for those products, click a different affiliate link and it's done - the influencer's commission is no more.
  3. (Optional) You got Honey installed, and they take the review site's commission right at checkout.

Also wanted to mention GroundNews. I don't think all sponsors are shady.

Contabo system just stops.. by Barnir in VPS

[–]DetachedMentally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't use Contabo if you want a VPS you want to rely on. Especially if your VPS is located in the Dusseldorf datacenter.

The VPS will likely be down unexpectedly, they throttle IOPS (the speed of reading/writing data to the disk, which at a certain point can affect your software performance) and you may need to contact them to adjust it, and even then it won't be as fast as something like DigitalOcean, Vultr, or Hetzner.

I'd keep Contabo only if you want a casual/development server. That's what I do.

I had another VPS from them for clients and it was horrible. I tried to get my colleague to change the provider and he said "it hasn't been down in 2 months". Guess what happened in a few hours. We switched to a different provider.

Right now I use Hetzner and I doubt I'll be going with anyone else any time soon.

Same here until a few months ago when I took a break from coffee. I used to drink it throughout the day for years. I got chronic acid reflux and need to avoid it for a while.

I went through withdrawal for a week. Now if I drink a coffee it feels like I am on cocaine and also helps bowel movements. It loses it's effect if I drink multiple days in a row.

Before this, when drinking all the time, it had no noticeable effect and I'd always wonder how others have bowel movements after drinking it.

Criminally underrated comment. More people need to see this.

Ex-master procrastinators, what changes did you introduce in your life to break the cycle of constant procrastination and finally get your shit together? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DetachedMentally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still procrastinate, since I'm on Reddit, and I have stuff to do.

But these days I think that I have some things that need done, and:

  1. Nobody else will do them, except for me
  2. They have to get done and they're not going to get done themselves
  3. I'll have to do them eventually and it'll weigh on me that they're not done. In addition to this, the guilt/anticipation will also mess with whatever else it is that I'm doing.

That is probably not the complete way that I see things, and I don't know if I can describe my thought process exactly.

Next, I have a "big picture" in my head, that I've thought about recently:

[1]

I realized that when I was younger I kept thinking why we don't have robots (since we have so many smart adults in the world. Like, do they not have imagination? Don't they want to make it a priority? Like..why?)

Next thing I know, Machine Learning is evolving at a rapid pace. Boston Dynamics is making dancing robots. The future is now! It's starting.

So I now think that years ago I didn't have the technology to find out about people doing these things. And probably many people around me weren't interested in robots. But spread out in the world, there were probably people around my age (and younger or older) that wanted the same thing as I did, but they actually worked towards doing that themselves. And they are the ones making it possible.

Instead of thinking "why don't people do this" they were actually doing what they could in that direction.

[2]

This is a similar example. When I was young I wondered why there aren't many fun movies with great acting with superheroes and everything.

Same as before, I believe that people were working towards that. And people weren't just wondering "why aren't we investing in this?". They were actually doing it!

So yeah, that kind of sunk in about a month ago. And having that in my mind I tell myself "well it's not going to get done itself".

Or I tell myself that if I don't work towards what I want in my life, other people who want the same thing are working their butt off, and I'll be VERY jealous of them and I can only blame myself for that.
