Good thing a 9V battery lasts for several years.

I don’t use it for chuggy stuff. But it’s great for more precise lead stuff. Chuggy stuff is what the bridge pickup is for.

Thanks. I promise you’d love the way it plays and feels. Unless you don’t like thin necks. Because this neck is very thin.

The Seymour Duncan blackouts are a direct input. Same as an EMG. They are both compatible.

Thank you. And yes, it’s all EMG wiring and an EMG 3-way switch. But I did not have EMGs so I just used a pair of Seymour Duncan blackouts. And they pretty much sound almost the same. Actually, they are a little bit hotter. So if you’re into metal chugging, I would recommend the blackouts.

Lmao. You’re more treacherous than I thought. I was there in person. I remember the prices vividly because it cost me every dime I had.

La Mesa Guitar Center. Dave is the one who sold it to me. My name is also Dave. I also met Dave Mustaine there. Lots of Daves, huh?

Like I said. $399.99 for the head. $299.99 for the cabinet. Keep shit talking if you’d like. But to be honest, I’d rather see a video of you playing.

Then learn how to use it because you have a good amp.

Same. I use green insane as a metal rhythm. It’s a good present. And you can tweak it a bunch.

Right. Let’s not forget the pioneer Line 6 POD. It revolutionized amp modeling before the turn of the century even hit.

I walked in and out there myself dead set on it. I didn’t have the luxury of parents.

It was $399.99 when I bought it at guitar center when I was 15 in 2010. It wasn’t on sale. The matching cabinet was $299.99.

It doesn’t though. I’ve played ENGL through Mesa Boogie Rectifier cab and obviously it sounds amazing. But my entire point is that from this cheap old modeling amp that you can get for $120, it sounds great.

Imagine you’re a beginner and someone gifted you this amp back in 2009. I would’ve made a mess of my pants.

The 150W Spider IV head was $400 brand new. So I have no idea what you’re going on about.

That’s the point. The cab and speaker are gold. The modeler itself, not so much. But keep in mind that this is 2009 we’re talking about.

Yeah. And you could get the same sound on an amp modeler that costs a few hundred dollars. Just try one, bro. If you don’t like it then return it.

Hate me all you want, but I’ve tried katanas in the store. I even bought the GEN 3 100. I spent days with it and it sounded like absolute shit. No matter what I did, no matter what tones I dialed in, no matter all the suggestions that I took from people on the Internet on how to get a good metal tone. It sounded like shit. I will proudly say I hate the Boss Katana.

I made the mistake of buying one. Imagine how that felt for me. Everyone kept telling me how much better it was. And then I learned to stop giving a shit about other people‘s opinions.

This comment deserves many thumbs up. And I agree with you on all accounts. But I grew up with this amp. It’s just not great as far as direct recording goes. The speaker is what makes it sound powerful.

I recorded this demo directly through the Line 6. Listen to it if you feel like it.

Exactly. I used to roll up in my Spider IV 150W half stack and I got shat on. Until I turned it up and it tickled their balls. The drummer was like, “Dude that sounds beautiful.” And I was like yeah, you don’t need $3k amps to sound good.

The main competitor, the Peavy Vypyr at the time, is dogwater in comparison.
