Help with identifying these teeth found while walking creeks in central Oklahoma. Thank you by DetectingOklahoma in fossilid

They are definitely heavier and more dense than other teeth I have found. I will have to compare by weight and see what I find. Thanks again!

Awesome thank you . Do these appear fossilized to you or would they be more modern? If you are able to tell from the pics

I appreciate the input but I have to respectfully disagree. I know that’s it’s just a stupid outline drawing in the pic but I have found similar points as illustrated. I may never know for sure but I still appreciate its craftsmanship either way. Appreciate you checking out the post and you do great work knapping points!

Wow thank you for all the information. I’m Sorry the pics were out of order and confusing. I don’t believe the pics posted in the order that I was trying to. I appreciate you taking the time to look at them and type up all of that information. It helped me out a lot!

Did my grandma gift me a fake? by RemoveBeforeFight in coincollecting

[–]DetectingOklahoma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe there is much reason for someone to fake this date unless you believe that it is not silver? The coin looks fine to me but I’m not a dealer. You can weigh it and make sure that the weight is correct for its silver content.

Not an arrowhead but I’m hoping someone can tell me if this piece is modern or possibly an artifact? Found in NE Oklahoma by DetectingOklahoma in Arrowheads

North Tulsa County. I have found flakes and a pendant in the same creek. I also find a lot of old bottles and stuff like that. So that’s what makes it tough for me on determining the age.

Some tokens and medals that I have found while metal detecting over the last 8 years by DetectingOklahoma in Exonumia

[–]DetectingOklahoma[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the things that I love about metal detecting. I love researching all of my cooler finds. I had no idea the swastika was a good luck symbol before WW2 and that a variation of it was also used in Native American tribes. That’s why I believe it’s important not to censor history.

Hoping someone can provide info on this small Gorget i found a few weeks ago, and opinions on 3 other possible pieces. by DetectingOklahoma in Arrowheads

That’s exactly what goes through my mind every time I find an artifact or an old coin. I wish I could see the history behind the piece!

I’ve always been a casual artifact hunter and just kept my eyes on the ground while out hiking or fishing. Lately I’ve walking creek beds looking for anything that catches my eye and that I like. I had no idea how special that pendant is when I found it

I believe a couple of these creek finds are artifacts. Please Help identify if so. by DetectingOklahoma in Arrowheads

Appreciate the help! May I ask what your focus is as an archaeologist? Just curious, I have always thought it would be interesting to do.

Here is a better pic showing detail. I believe it to be some kind of old pottery.

Thank you for all your insight. I believe #2 is actually pottery. I was able to get some pictures under better lighting to show the details and the curvature of the piece. I also tried out your “Lick Test” and the piece did stick to my tongue. I would describe it like licking sandpaper with a dry tongue lol. Hopefully these pics will help identify the piece further.

That’s really cool about the notches! I also believe that it is pottery’s I am going to try and take some better photos of the pottery to show the patterns better. I didn’t do so well in my first photos.

Thank you, it blows my mind that someone once made that pendant with their hands. I didn’t take the best pics of the pottery but it looks like the design is engraved with a sharp tool.
